When a disabled woman arrived at a hospital five days too late while covered in urine and feces, nurses and officers were deeply disgusted by her husband's neglect.

In Franklin County, Ohio, Michael Redmon has been accused of leaving his disabled wife, Sherrie Redmon, for 5 days in a truck. His wife said she had asked him to take her to a health center.

The sheriff's office reported that there was waste coming from the vehicle when she finally managed to get to the hospital. On top of this, they stated, her skin could not be removed from the seat.

The officer also said that Sherrie had several sores and degradation on some parts of her skin. This specific police citation read:

"[She] has numerous sores and places where her skin is deteriorating.”

Michael is enlisted as her caregiver. According to his spouse, she was left in the truck on July 12, 2021, despite requests for medical assistance.

Sherrie alleged that he left her in there until July 17, 2021. She then finally arrived at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

Her stepdad... eventually walked out the door when her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.

A nurse working at the center informed law enforcement that the incident was so poor that they had to implement a medical lift. Michael has been charged with first-degree criminal abuse.

This case of Michael and Sherrie is not as rare as one might think. As a 2015 paper expanded, couples generally remain by each other's side if one falls sick, but it's usually a man if one does leave.

This could be due to gender roles and expectations. What may be happening is that men still tend to think women must do most of the housework, and when they don't, due to being sick, the men want to leave.

Christie Sanchez experienced this when she was just 12 years old. Her stepdad, who she always loved and admired, eventually walked out the door when her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, Sanchez expressing:

"It’s like, once the chemotherapy started and he saw the decline in her health he was kind of like, ‘Oh [expletive],’ and tapped out.”

Sanchez is not the only one with a story like this. When she shared her experience on Twitter, it went viral, with many responding with similar experiences.

In another sad example of a man's negative attitude towards housework, a stay-at-home mom Sierra Nicole was accused by her boyfriend of doing nothing while he was at work.

She then recorded her hectic day, posting it on TikTok. In solidarity with other over-worked women, she hilariously ended the clip by refusing to make supper for her boyfriend when he returned home.
