This Years Birthday Wishes from the Royal Family to Meghan Markle Look Very Similar to Last Years
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, turned 40 today, and members of the Royal family shared tributes to her on their official social media pages. However, it seems the birthday wishes are not so different from last year’s.
Tensions continue to rise between Prince Harry and Meghan and the rest of the Royal family. However, that didn’t stop them from taking time out to celebrate a recent milestone in Meghan’s life.
Today, August 4, the Duchess of Sussex turned 40. As expected, members of the royal family took to their official social media pages to mark the celebration. But their wishes bear a striking resemblance to last year’s tributes.

2021 VS 2020 TRIBUTES
The official Twitter page of the Queen uploaded a collage of three photos of Meghan― one from her and Harry’s trip to Australia, one from their trip to Africa, which included Archie, and one from Meghan’s solo outing with the Queen.
The image from Meghan’s 2018 outing with the Queen to Chester was the exact image the royal page posted last year in August when Meghan turned 39. Also, the accompanying message was repeated on both posts.
Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles’ Clarence House shared an up-close picture of Meghan smiling radiantly with her hair styled to let two loose strands frame her face.
The lovely photo bore a striking resemblance to the image they used during the duchess 39th birthday. In the previous picture, Meghan was smiling widely and had her hair styled the same way.
Finally, Prince William and Kate’s official Twitter page wished their sister-in-law a happy 40th birthday. They used a photo from Meghan’s Australia trip, which saw her in a striped dress with a flower wreath necklace.
The Cambridges were the only royals whose tribute was markedly different from last year’s. For Meghan’s 39th, they shared a photo of her chatting with a little girl during an outing.
MEGHAN’S 40TH BIRTHDAY
According to Page Six, Meghan, who exited the royal family alongside her husband in January 2020, wanted to mark her birthday with a low-key celebration that involves only her family.
Harry and Meghan made several shocking accusations, including a racist comment from a royal about Archie’s skin color.
A source close to the publication shared that since Meghan recently gave birth to the couple’s daughter Lilibet Diana, they had no plans for a big bash. Nevertheless, the insider claims that Harry might have an intimate getaway under his sleeves.
Also, since Meghan shares her birthday with former US President Barack Obama, there were speculations that she and Harry might attend Obama’s weekend bash at his Martha Vineyard home.
However, another source reiterates that the Sussexes have no intention of attending the party. Harry and Meghan are known for having lowkey celebrations, so it comes as no surprise that this year is the same.
TIMELINE OF THE ROYAL FEUD
Although the royal family wished Meghan a happy birthday, there is still much friction between both parties. Harry and Meghan’s feud with the royal family goes as far back as 2018.
At the time, rumors surfaced that Meghan and Kate weren’t getting along, but it turned out it was Harry and William that weren’t seeing eye-to-eye over Meghan, with William worrying that the relationship went too fast.
The rift became glaring to the public in June 2019 when Meghan and Harry officially split from the charity they shared with William and Kate. By January 2020, the Sussexes announced they were stepping down as senior royals.
The feud intensified when Meghan and Harry sat down with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, more than a year after their exit, and shared some controversial stories about the royal family.
Harry and Meghan made several shocking accusations, including a racist comment from a royal about Archie’s skin color and Meghan feeling suicidal. Things have since taken a turn for the worse, and it’s not sure if there is reconciliation in sight.
