Mama June’s 1st Granddaughter Was Born with an Extra Thumb the Family Had Removed

Many may remember that “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star Anna Cardwell’s daughter was born with an extra thumb. The family contemplated surgery on the show but eventually decided off camera.

Many people used to turn on “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” to catch a glimpse of the tiny pageant queen with a firecracker personality. Soon, Alana, also known as Honey Boo Boo’s family, became the main attraction for the show.

Mama June and her other daughters, Anna, Jessica, and Lauryn, all played a part in keeping the show entertaining. However, Anna’s first daughter, Kaitlyn, has kept fans wondering about some details from the series.

The amusing moment refers to the “Toddlers In Tiaras” star’s niece, Kaitlyn, born with an extra finger. Kaitlyn, Anna’s daughter, was the first baby in the family, making her Mama June’s first grandchild.

As a result, Anna and Mama June were extremely involved in raising Kaitlyn, as presented on the show. An example of this is how often the two would go back and forth about the little one’s extra thumb while on camera.

In one episode, the mother and daughter took the baby to consult with a doctor to gauge whether surgically removing the thumb was possible. However, Mama June voiced her reservations about the surgery during the visit.

Although the baby’s other thumb was a topic of conversation on the show, some fans did not get closure since TLC canceled it in season two. Thankfully, Anna gave her fans an update on her firstborn’s finger.

The TV personality revealed that she had decided to get her daughter’s third thumb surgically removed. She also accounted for possible backlash in her Facebook post by explaining her reasoning:

“...we have decided to remove it cause of school and because we don’t know what it will do to her when she is older…”

Although Anna was for the removal surgery, she revealed that her mother’s concerns did not vanish. She explained that Mama June was still worried that her granddaughter would not have mobility in her thumb after the surgery.

Nonetheless, Anna did not listen to her mother, whom she estranged from since the show’s final season. The reason for the estrangement is the matriarch’s relationship with the man Anna accused of molesting her as a child.

Anna recently revealed that she and Mama June still do not have a relationship, despite their close bond in the past. The now 26-year-old revealed that she is yet to have a real conversation with her mother about her abuse.

Many fans who follow the pair on social media may be shocked by Anna’s recent statement. Her words may be difficult for those fans to believe because they were recently seen posing in a picture together after years.

However, it turns out that the duo may have just been civil for Lauryn’s baby shower. This comes as no surprise since Anna would most likely be the forerunner for peace at a baby-related event due to her struggles.

The mother of two recently shared that she had suffered four miscarriages while trying for a third child. She revealed that her most recent miscarriage was during the holidays, resulting in a heartsore Christmas.

Anna’s recent fertility revelations are the perfect explanation for why she did not dispute the reunion at her sister’s baby shower. Hopefully, the family can truly reunite so Anna can heal with all her sisters and mom by her side.
