Britney Spears Ended Her Marriage to K-Fed in 2006 Because His Bad Partying Habits Were No Longer Tolerable

After nearly two years of marriage and two children together, Britney Spears filed for divorce from Kevin Federline due to “irreconcilable differences.” Fifteen years later, Britney announces her engagement to Sam Asghari.

Britney and her former backup dancer and rapper, Kevin Federline, had a tumultuous public breakup, followed by Britney’s breakdown in 2007. As the Toxic hit singer candidly shared in a 2008 documentary, “Britney: For The Record”:

"I was going through so much artificial stuff with my kids and Kevin at the time."

BRIT AND K-FED MET IN 2004

Their relationship was kind of chaotic right from the get-go. The singer was going through a turbulent moment in her life after her controversial 55 hours marriage to her hometown pal Jason Alexander in Vegas in 2004.

She met Federline after that. They fell in love immediately, as Federline shared with People, in 2008:

“I was madly in love with her. Everything just seemed so right. I didn’t see it as too fast or too slow.”

The young couple, Britney, 22, and Kevin, 26 at the time, tied the knot three months later in a private ceremony. Three weeks after delivering their second child, the pop singer filed for divorce in November 2006.

In March 2007, they reached an initial divorce settlement, but even in June, K-Fed hasn’t had signed the papers due to his concerns regarding Britney’s erratic behavior.

FROM TROUBLED RELATIONSHIP TO "FRIENDS"

They settled the divorce a month later with committed shared custody of their two kids. Despite the turbulent marriage and divorce, in 2008, they seemed to reach a friendly relationship. Federline declared in 2008 that Spears is “an awesome mom.”

The pop singer revealed in 2015 at etalk, from CTV Canada, that turned their turbulent relationship and nasty split into a friendly interaction was “time.”

“It’s been a long, long journey, but I think where both of us are now, we both have somebody else we’re happy [with]. Everything just works.”

They both agreed that “time heals everything,” and it seems to be working well for them. The former couple has been seen together at their sons’ Sean Preston, 9, and Jayden James, 8 sports events.

Federline married again in 2013 with Victoria Prince, with whom he has two daughters together – Jordan Kay and Peyton Marie.

In recent years, Britney Spears has been dating the personal trainer Sam Ashgari, to whom she got engaged last Sunday.

The couple first met in 2016 on the set of the "Slumber Party" video clip, and since they announced their public romance, Spears has been sharing sweet posts of their life together, from couple workouts to parties.
