According to the 45-year-old, at the time she lived away from her mother, who worked a full-time job as a nurse, and without any sisters or aunts, she had no one to turn to.

Witherspoon felt lost as she had no one to help her take care of little Ava, who was brought into the world in 1999, just two months after the actress tied the knot with now ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.

TRYING HER BEST

The "Legally Blonde" star shared that she didn't know what to do when the baby cried all night as she wasn't familiar with the concept of sleep training. She recalled:

"Ava was up all night until she was probably 7 months old because I just didn't understand not to keep feeding her because I thought she was hungry all the time."

Witherspoon welcomed Ava, who is now 22, when she was 23 years old. She was living all by herself in Los Angeles, a brand new city to her, where she had no friends, which made her cry a few times.

She also has a son named Deacon.

FINANCIAL PILLOW

She told "The View" co-hosts that she had almost no support, and even though she tried to "muscle through" for 5 months, she ended up becoming sleep-deprived and "delirious."

Witherspoon added that she was grateful for having some money that she had saved up because she wouldn't have been able to work while raising Ava in the first few months.

According to the "Big Little Lies" alum, raising a child is not a one-person job or even a two-person job. She left a few words for new moms around the world struggling to raise their bundles of joy:

"I just want to say you're going to get through it. It's so hard but try to find a network of friends. Reach out to people, don't be afraid. It's very hard. You can't do it by yourself."

Witherspoon, who also has a son named Deacon, has been keeping herself busy by working on "The Morning Show," where she stars alongside her longtime friend Jennifer Aniston.
