Singer Rachel Platten and Husband Kevin Lazan Welcome Second Baby ‘after 2.5 Grueling Days of Labor'

American songwriter Rachel Platten and Kevin Lazan have recently become parents for the second time after welcoming another addition to their family of three.

Rachel Platten announced in a lengthy post on her Instagram that she and spouse Kevin Lazan welcomed their second child together, captioning her post:

“Introducing Sophie Jo Lazan. Born 9/9/21 at home in a water birth after 2.5 grueling days of labor."

Platten explained that when she felt as though she could not bear the agony anymore, "this amazing, wise little one kept whispering to me, 'we can do this mama, we can do this,’” she wrote.

After gaining her strength, the 40-year-old shared she felt like a warrior, adding she would never second guess her strength again as she kept going one contraction at a time.

She thanked her baby girl for completing their family, as well as her fans and followers for showing her love and support while sending the coziest baby snuggles.

In turn, her followers reciprocated the same positive vibes by singing her praises, calling her a goddess, and congratulating her on the birth of little Sophie, saying she is beautiful.

Platten and Lazan are already parents to daughter Violet Skye, who is two years old. The New Yorker revealed she was expecting back in April.

At the time, she shared she had a tough time keeping her pregnancy a secret as she showed off her baby bump in a mirror selfie on Instagram.

Right before announcing she was pregnant, Platten joined “The Talk” as guest host and ended up revealing she was having another baby.

After the appearance, the star said when she got asked to do the show, she realized she had not announced the big news yet and was pressured to do so during the show instead.

DEALING WITH ANXIETY

Following the pregnancy announcement, the author frankly spoke out about her fear of having another child and asked her fans to pray for her amid her anxiety.

Platten shared she felt it was too much to add another baby to the mix, citing her career as a factor. She said she worried she would be overwhelmed juggling work and supporting her family.
