'SATC' Star Willie Garson Passes Away at 57

"Sex and the City" star Willie Garson passed away at 57 after battling pancreatic cancer. Various outlets confirmed his death and shared he passed away surrounded by family.

On September 21, 2021, "Sex and the City" actor Willie Garson passed away at 57 from a short illness. People reported that the renowned actor had pancreatic cancer and passed away with his family by his side.

Garson was most known for his character, gay talent agent Standford Blatch who was best friends with Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw and was in both the series and movies of the franchise.

The "White Collar" actor was set to appear in the "Sex and The City" reboot, "And Just Like That." He was pictured with Parker and his on-screen rival and then-husband, Mario Cantone, on set in New York.

Cantone, who played Anthony Marentino, shared a tribute for his late on-screen partner on Instagram. Cantone shared a photo of the two co-stars posing in black suits and wrote:

"I couldn’t have had a more brilliant TV partner. I’m devastated and just overwhelmed with Sadness."

He added that Garson was taken too soon and described the late actor as a gift from the gods. He finished off his tribute by sharing his love for Garson.

Cantone and Garson's love story on "Sex and the City" reached its peak in the second movie of the franchise as the pair married in an opulent wedding complete with a performance by Liza Minnelli.

Besides his iconic role as Blatch, Garson had over 150 credits in his more than 30-year long career.

Although Garson's character was gay, Garson identified as straight in his personal life. The "Hawaii Five-O" actor also has a son, Nathen Garson, whom Garson adopted when Nathen was seven years old.

Nathen took to Instagram shortly after his father's passing and shared a heartbreaking tribute for his father alongside a collection of photos and a video of his late father. Nathen started his tribute with:

"I love you so much papa. Rest In Peace and I’m so glad you got to share all your adventures with me and were able to accomplish so much."

Nathen shared the pride he has for his father and remarked that it was time for Garson to go on an adventure of his own. The young man described his father as the funniest, toughest and smartest person he knew.

He also shared his gratitude that Garson had shared his love with him and promised he would never forget or lose his father's love. The comment section was quickly filled with supportive messages from friends and fans of the family.

Nathen can be proud of his actor father as he had a very successful career in show business. Besides his iconic role as Blatch, Garson had over 150 credits in his more than 30-year long career.

His legacy will live on in his roles and the memories he created with his co-stars and loved ones. Many of his co-stars have posted tributes online.
