Family Shamelessly Buys Jet-Ski after People Raised over $67,000 to Fix Their Fire-Ravaged House

A popular family was devastated when a petrol bomb destroyed their South London home. Fans rallied to help them raise funds to rebuild their home—now, these donors are outraged.

The Smithys, a family with millions of online followers, was in the news recently after their home was ravaged by a fire. Former builder Nick Smith and his family were fortunate to get out of the burning house in time.

His partner, Jess, and their four children were shocked by the incident. To assist with rebuilding their home, they set up a GoFundMe page. Many people helped them raise more than $67,000 toward the project.

PEOPLE WERE NOT IMPRESSED

However, when fans saw how the money was spent, they were not impressed. In a TikTok video, a "smug" Nick laughs and smirks at his followers while on his new jet-ski. The father had a message for his viewers, and it was not well received.

In the video, Nick asked "the people who are so caught up in [his] life" what they were doing. He expressed: "Negative people only get negative things in life! Don't be a negative person." His attitude was what truly perturbed viewers.

REGRETTED HELPING THE FAMILY

The father sped around the water on his jet-ski and laughed into the camera. A user stated that he had a look of "real evil" in his eyes. Another said they felt sorry for everyone who donated money toward the family's page.

Someone added: "See, they're spending their GoFundMe well." Another shared this sentiment and expressed: "He's laughing at everyone who's donated to him!" People also said they regretted helping the family and wanted their money back.

SPENDING THE MONEY

Nick purportedly told viewers how they would spend the money. He alleged it would be used to pay off his car finance, to share with his neighbors, and to get his girls "a few little bits."

He also indicated the family would give some of the GoFundMe donations to others who went through similar experiences. He claimed they would help people who did not have insurance to rebuild their homes.

THE VIDEO WAS UNKIND

Despite these claims, people could only see the flashy jet-ski Nick had purchased. A netizen commented: "What about the charities? Now it's spent on jet-skis."

People questioned why he would post such an unkind video. A user wrote: "If it wasn't for the public, you wouldn't be laughing. That money was from their kindness."
