Sometimes, getting the right support at the right time can make a world of difference in people's lives, connecting them in a way they never thought possible. The story of Mr. Nathaniel Hudson and Brooke O'Briant took a similar course.

When the then-37-year-old Brooke decided to help Hudson, she didn't know that their special connection would stay with her forever. He was a lonely stranger who had absolutely no contact with any friends or family members and needed immediate help.

Brooke recalled that she got a call from her local hospital on December 20, 2018, about an elderly man who was living in a terrible state and required assistance. She shared her story with Love What Matters, further adding:

"Little did I know, the good Lord was crossing my path with this kind soul to not only impact his life but mine as well."

When she arrived to pick up Hudson from his apartment, she was shocked to see his living situation. However, he was dressed in a nice suit and hat and looked very active, and she couldn't keep herself from complimenting him for his gentlemanliness.

Brooke, who worked in the marketing department at North River Village Assisted Living, later took Hudson on a tour of their community, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He even attended a Christmas concert there, dancing and pleasing the rest of the community members.

He even gave a note to the hospital staff that read: "Brooke is my everything."

Soon afterward, Brooke dropped him back home, following which Hudson spent some time in the hospital because of his health. On April 5, 2019, she went to pick him from the hospital, and eventually, he became an official resident at North River Village.

Over time, Brooke and Hudson developed a strong connection. Even the facility's employees and sponsors didn't hesitate to shower him with their affection, donating bedding, decor, and other things to make him feel comfortable in his new home.

Because he didn't have any family, Brooke stepped up to be his daughter, taking care of his mail, phone, dry cleaning, bills, doctor's appointments, and even food. Hudson would fondly call her his "supervisor" in front of others. He even attended church with her family.

Brooke recalled him dancing and melting people's hearts at sermons and how she loved holding onto his arm for support during worship. He loved forging new friendships, exercising, and playing games. He was a hopeless romantic who yearned to find a wife.

Unfortunately, his health began deteriorating after a few months, following which he was diagnosed with cancer. Eventually came the time for him to take some crucial decisions, all of which he refused to go forward with without talking to Brooke.

He even gave a note to the hospital staff that read: "Brooke is my everything." He made her his power of attorney after getting discharged from the hospital. Before passing away, he sang "Amazing Grace" so loudly that he could be heard throughout the facility.

Brooke loved Hudson with all her heart, and to fund his funeral expenses, she set up a GoFundMe where the collected funds surpassed her target amount. She also appreciated the people's support in helping her raise funds in very little time.

A few donors were quick to share their heartfelt wishes for the late Mr. Hudson. One person said: "This story touched me [in] so many ways. I love that Brooke took such good care of him!! I hope you are up there smiling and dancing."

Another user lovingly added: "God Bless you and God Bless Mr. Hudson. May he rest in sweet paradise with the Lord! (sic)." Undoubtedly, Brooke and Hudson's story is truly heart-touching and one of a kind.
