Death, suffering, and loss are a few of the bitter realities of life, and their inevitability makes them all the scarier. However, we can either celebrate and cherish the little time we have left with someone or spend it wallowing in misery.

Maggie Bear's owners chose to make their last moments with her worthwhile and knew exactly what they had to do to please their beloved dog. She was given a chance to play in the snow one last time before waving goodbye to her loved ones.

The dog had been suffering from cancer for months, and her owners thought a weekend getaway was exactly what she needed. They announced the news of her sad demise in a Facebook post, alongside a video of her playing in the snow. The caption read:

"We said goodbye to our sweet Maggie Bear this morning. We are devastated and already feel the enormous void of her absence."

Maggie Bear's owners further added that while ending her suffering was a tough decision, they have found comfort in knowing that she left with grace and dignity. They wanted to bid farewell to her in a peaceful manner so she didn't feel "scared or stressful."

Her owners also took her on a camping trip, where she enjoyed paddle-boarding, ate her favorite food, played with her ball, and was spoiled with belly rubs. Recalling the blissful trip, her owners added:

"Our outing was incredibly bittersweet. Seeing her big brown eyes take in all the stimuli of nature had us doubting our decision. "

While the beloved dog returned from her camping trip "blissfully tired," her owners were not done making her feel special. They wanted to see her relish in the pure joy of feeling the snow between her paws because it was something she had always loved to do.

However, they knew they had to arrange for the snow because there was none during September in Utah. So they decided to contact the local ice skating rink. That was when The Salt Lake City Ice Center stepped in to help. Their Facebook post read:

"This morning we filled bins, buckets and the back of his van with the ice shavings from the rink. Maggie enjoyed her last morning with her two favorite things, snow and her owners."

The Salt Lake City Ice Center donated buckets of ice shavings which were then used to build a mound for Maggie Bear in her garden. In her videos, she can be seen looking content, sitting on top of piles of snow with her ball beside her.
