Lena Dunham Responds to Body-Shaming Remarks from Haters after Marrying Luis Felber
Actress Lena Dunham has opened up about being at the receiving end of body-shaming on social media and why she placed strict boundaries on the internet for years. See her statement below.
"Girls" star Lena Dunham recently surprised fans with her revelation that she has tied the knot with her husband, British-Peruvian musician Luis Felber, on September 25 in London, with pop star Taylor Swift as one of her bridesmaids.
Dunham dazzled fans with her three wedding dresses on her special day. While she received congratulatory remarks and well-wishes for her wedding with Felber, Dunham also had to deal with criticisms due to her weight gain.

In a lengthy message on Instagram, Dunham expressed that online users quickly judged her weight gain, telling her she should be ashamed of how her body has changed. She added in her caption:
"But lastly, when will we learn to stop equating thinness with health/happiness?"
The 35-year-old actress noted she takes issue with the narrative because she refuses to let women or people believe that having a slimmer body makes them happy. Like weight loss, weight gain brings positive changes too, she explained.

Dunham had her fair share of body-image issues in the past. According to the TV star, social media criticisms are the reason she created intense boundaries with the internet for the past few years.
Dunham previously opened up about her struggles with eating disorders, addiction, and health issues.
Dunham also raised another observation. She wrote that she finds people ironic as they would often compare her present body to her previous one which was also subjected to public scrutiny.
The "Tiny Furniture" actress said there were pictures of her old self that have been compared to her now. She revealed she suffered from an "undiagnosed illness" at the time.
Dunham previously opened up about her struggles with eating disorders, addiction, and health issues. She once shared she had undergone a hysterectomy procedure because of her endometriosis.
She also disclosed that she is living with fibromyalgia, which causes widespread pain all over the body. Despite criticisms, Dunham remains proud of the work she has done since then.
Dunham shared she has now started a new life as a person who aspires to be healthy. Since embarking on a wellness journey, the renowned actress said she has changed and become more kind to her loved ones.
She assured those whose appearance changes over time that it's okay for them to live in their present body as she is a living testament to it. Towards the end of her post, Dunham said, "I'm really enjoying it."
