6-Year-Old Boy Makes His Stepdad Cry by Surprising Him with Adoption Papers

Footage of a man crying after getting served adoption papers by his six-year-old son has gone viral on social media — here are the details.

A man celebrating his 33rd birthday received a pleasant surprise from his stepchild and could not stop the waterworks. The emotional affair was caught on Tiktok and, like many other randomly heartwarming posts on the app, has since been going viral.

The video began with the little boy handing a brown envelope over to the unsuspecting man who was seated in a chair beside his other child. Paul, the boy who is to be adopted, could be seen excitedly waiting for his father to open the envelope that contained his adoption papers.

Behind him, a few feet away, an older woman watched quietly as the scene unfolded. As soon as the man tore open the envelope and saw the first document, he scrunched up his face, trying to hold back his tears.

Paul, who had been waiting for his reaction, giggled excitedly as he watched his stepdad try and fail to keep the tears from rolling down his cheeks.

He was told he was going away for a romantic birthday meal with Lyndsey at the Harbour Lights restaurant in Irvine, the family's hometown.

The six-year-old was pleased with his reaction, and he proudly proclaimed that he had successfully made his stepfather cry. "I'm making my dad cry," he said with glee.

It was an emotional moment, and as the video ended, the man stated that he would adopt Paul before drawing the boy in for a hug.

The video was also shared on Facebook, where it has been making waves among the users. Since it went up, the footage has racked up more than three thousand likes from those floored by it.

It's not the first time this has happened to a man on his birthday; however, in August, a Scottish dad was left in tears when his wife and step-son surprised him with an emotional "adoption" ceremony on his birthday.

Gavin McGeachie, 18, had initially planned to surprise his stepdad Chris, 43, with the adoption papers on his birthday, but the law in Scotland reportedly limits adoption age to under 18.

It has been a long-time dream of the boy for the man who raised him since he was 4 to become his father legally. His mum, Lyndsey, 40, who shares three other children with Chris, decided to hire a humanist to carry out an unofficial adoption ceremony for the pair on Saturday, August 21.

Chris had no idea; he was told he was going away for a romantic birthday meal with Lyndsey at the Harbour Lights restaurant in Irvine, the family's hometown.

However, when he arrived, he was taken to a private suite where he found all their closest family and friends ready to witness the emotional moment they made their father-son bond official.
