A little girl wrote a letter to Santa, asking him for three things: a sweatsuit, a hydro flask, and to have a forever family. When her foster parents read her Christmas wish list, they decided to grant all her wishes, particularly the last one.

The festive season is finally here, which means it's time to spread that much-needed holiday cheer. Christmas is a magical occasion loved by kids and adults alike when everyone tries their best to be on Santa's "nice list."

It's also the time when children pen down heartfelt notes to Saint Nick and anxiously wait for gifts and surprises. An 11-year-old girl from Calera, Alabama, had the same sentiments during Christmastime two years ago.

THE FOSTER PARENTS

Dustin and Page Rogers had hearts made of gold. The couple living in Shelby County, Tennessee, had fostered more than 180 kids in five years. Page also explained:

“We began fostering after I met several foster children in a childcare center I was working for. Foster care truly changed our lives because it taught Dustin and I what it truly means to be a family.”

The Rogers also adopted nine of the kids they fostered. But what they didn't know was that their family puzzle was still missing one integral piece.

LONGING FOR A FOREVER FAMILY

In June 2018, they fostered a little girl named Maya. Over time, Maya became fond of her foster family and could feel the love and care they exuberated.

The little girl celebrated the special day with her new family and visited Chuck-E-Cheese.

In February 2019, she witnessed Dustin and Page adopt four of their foster kids, leaving a lasting impression on her. Page noted how Maya cried throughout the adoption ceremony because she yearned to have a forever home.

CHRISTMAS WISH-LIST

The Rogerses asked the children to write down their wishes when the holiday season came. Maya's Christmas wish-list comprised three things: an Adidas sweatsuit, a hydro flask, and to be adopted.

After discovering Maya's wish, her foster parents started the adoption process on November 8. On December 19 at 11:30 am, Jefferson County Judge Elizabeth North signed their petition.

The adoption was finalized, but the little girl was yet to hear the happy news. Page told her kids they were stopping by the courthouse, and she wished to capture a photo of them there.

FINALLY ADOPTED

Maya was given a placard to hold as the kids lined up to pose for the picture. It read: "Merry Christmas to me. I'm now an adoptee." The signboard also had her new name, Presley Louise Rogers.

Presley was still holding the placard when someone turned it over and asked her to read it. The moment she read the words on the sign, she was reduced to tears. She later expressed her happiness and explained that it was a huge surprise.

The little girl celebrated the special day with her new family and visited Chuck-E-Cheese. Page mentioned that Presley's adoption was special because she was finally home and had the feeling of "forever" and "stability."

Like Presley, countless kids in foster homes long for a forever family. It's couples like Dustin and Page who inspire people to step up and change these children's lives for the best.
