Newborn Baby Abandoned on Stranger's Doorstep with Distressing Note: 'His Dad Tried to Kill Us'
An infant was abandoned as a last resort and found on a doorstep with a heartbreaking note. The little one's life was in danger, and the mother did all she could to rescue the child.
In 2019 an Orlando, Florida woman opened her front door to something shocking. A helpless newborn baby wrapped in a T-shirt was looking up at her. She immediately called the Orlando Police Department.
The newborn was dropped off at the Willow Key Apartment blocks, and police officers were shocked by the note that accompanied the infant. The child appeared in good health and was taken to a nearby hospital.

POLICE OPENED AN INVESTIGATION
Althea Brown, who lived in the complex, expressed: "It's incomprehensible to me. I don't know if it's a neighbor or not or if it was just somebody that decided to use this place as their escape." Authorities opened a case to investigate the occurrence.
Police reminded the public that any parents who drop children under seven days old at fire stations or hospitals would not be prosecuted.

DROPPING OFF INFANTS
The baby will be taken care of and provided with the needed attention. Former fire Chief Lars White explained that they don't ask questions to people who drop off the babies.
He added: "We don't capture names. We don't look at vehicles that perhaps they drove up in. Absolutely nothing is collected from them." However, dropping off a child at an unknown residence is still illegal.
REASONS FOR ABANDONMENT
Neighbors heard the newborn crying, and people were confused. Thankfully the child was discovered in time as medical staff shared the little one would have died. The child's biological mother revealed why she abandoned the baby.
In a note, the mom wrote:
"I had him in the bathroom alone. His dad tried to kill us. Please keep him a secret and take him to a hospital. Dad is a very dangerous man. I'm so sorry. I tried to feed him and clean him as much as I could."
THE BABIES WERE CONNECTED
Authorities encourage mothers in need to consider other options before dropping off infants at locations where they might be in danger. The baby was not the first child discovered in the Orlando apartment complex between 2016 and 2019.
Police revealed that DNA tests connected three infants who were abandoned in the apartment complex. Netizens shared their concern for the mom, who has not escaped the abusive home environment.

THE MOM SAVED THEM
One user wrote: "It's sad that In 4 years this woman has not found a way to escape. I pray she is alive and finds the strength to seek help." Others called the story heartbreaking.
Many online users sent well wishes for the children and their "brave" mom, who did what she could to save their lives and help them escape their purported dangerous home situation.
