Liza Minnelli has had a colorful life filled with success. An Oscar winner, the actress, is highly recognized for her roles in "New York, New York," and "Sex and The City 2."

But despite her Hollywood success, Minnelli has had quite a tumultuous personal life. She has been married to four husbands. Her only regret, however, remains her inability to have children.

FOUR FAILED MARRIAGES

Minnelli was only a few days shy of turning 21 years old when she married her first husband, Peter Allen, an Australian singer, and songwriter, in 1967. She wore a Victorian-inspired wedding dress for her big day.

Minnelli was shocked to find her husband getting intimate with a man on their wedding night. Minnelli says everyone around her knew that Allen was gay, except for her.

Since then, she says she never comes home or visits anyone without calling first. They separated in 1969 and finally divorced in 1974.

After her divorce became final, Minnelli married Jack Haylay Jr., whose father played the Tin Man in "The Wizard of Oz" alongside Minnelli's mother, Judy Garland.

They stayed married for five years, but in 1979, they broke up. Reports say their marriage was more platonic than it was romantic.

That same year, Minnelli married Mark Gero, a sculptor. Minnelli was ready to start a family, and in 1981, she became pregnant. Unfortunately, she lost the pregnancy.

By the time 1992 was clocking in, the relationship had turned sour. Gero granted Minnelli an uncontested divorce, and they went their separate ways.

Minnelli married her fourth and last husband, David Gest, in 2002. Gest was a music promoter, and their wedding cost a whopping 3.5 million dollars. They had 850 guests in attendance, and Michael Jackson was the best man.

Despite the lavish wedding, the couple stayed married for only 16 months. They separated amid lurid accusations and counter-accusations. However, their divorce did not become final until 2007.

SHE SUFFERED THREE MISCARRIAGES

Unfortunately, Minnelli could not have children throughout her marriages after she suffered three miscarriages. She disclosed that she suffered from numerous medical complications that made having babies a problem.

One pregnancy left the "Arthur" actress with a hiatal hernia, resulting from the medical procedures done to save the baby. The star says that the hernia is still painful whenever she eats or sings a certain way.
