Prince William Doubted Kate & Asked Dad & the Queen for Advice - Later Kate Was Left ‘in Tears’, Report Says
Prince William was not always sure about his future with Duchess Kate. He supposedly asked Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth for advice, and Kate was left in tears afterward.
Love stories in the British Royal family have made headlines for centuries, and Prince William and Duchess Kate's relationship is no different.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been married for over ten years and now share three children, but they faced challenges and even parted ways a few years before tying the knot.
DATING BEFORE KATE
Although William's younger brother, Prince Harry, was considered the family's "playboy," William was more likely to have a "roving eye" when he was younger.
Davina Duckworth-Chad was one of his supposed flings. They dated in the late 1990s, and she even went on a cruise with him, Prince Charles, and Duchess Camilla.
During William's first year at St. Andrews University, he allegedly dated a few women, including Olivia Hunt and Rose Farquhar. He also had a crush on socialite Jecca Craig. They met during a school holiday in Kenya in 1998, and he attended her wedding in 2016.

MEETING THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE KATE MIDDLETON
William and Kate met during their first semester at St. Andrews in 2001. They studied Art History and would run into each other on their way to class. It took some time, but they became good friends by the end of that semester.
Apart from having breakfast together with friends, they bonded over their shared love for skiing. William and Kate were typical college friends as they would share notes if one had to miss a lecture.

Years later, William acknowledged that he noticed something special about Kate when they met. However, they were just friends until the second semester, when sparks started to fly.
Kate, William, and two other friends moved into an off-campus apartment. He unsuccessfully tried to impress her by cooking fancy meals that ended up burnt.
When they finally decided to give love a chance, they told their fellow housemates. They were surprised but eventually realized their relationship was "really nice," the Duke of Cambridge revealed.

Rumors about their relationship spread so fast that media outlets visited Kate's parents in Bucklebury, England, to ask about it. Her dad, Michael Middleton, hid their relationship and told reporters he didn't think he would be in-laws to Prince William.
Only one year later, in March 2004, Kate and William couldn't hide their relationship from the press anymore. They were spotted skiing together in the Swiss Alps, and the news made headlines worldwide. About their relationship, royal author Angela Levin said:
"I think that Kate has helped save William. I think it was very difficult for him coming out of a dysfunctional family, losing his mum so young, and I think he was in a very difficult place."

HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS POST-GRADUATION
Before Kate and William graduated from St. Andrews in June 2005, they had a private relationship. The press agreed they wouldn't cover news about him, but everything changed when they left college.
British tabloids would call Kate's family the "middle-class Middletons" and even criticized her mom for chewing gum during William's graduation from the military academy in 2006.
According to royal expert Katie Nicholl's book "The Making of a Royal Romance," the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge hit a rocky patch in late 2006, making William anxious about their future together.
He supposedly talked to Charles and Queen Elizabeth about his second thoughts. They were both "disappointed" but advised him not to hurry into anything.
Following his family's advice, he called Kate and canceled their plans to spend the holidays together at Sandringham. After that call, Kate was "left in tears," Nicholl claimed.
"It was very much trying to find our way, and we were growing up."
William and Kate's relationship broke down in 2007. They could barely see each other because he spent most of his time in Windsor with the Household Cavalry, and she worked as a party planner for her parents's company.
The media also published photos of William partying, and in April 2007, he and Kate parted ways. William reportedly ended their relationship in a phone call while Kate was working.
The Duchess of Cambridge eventually revealed she wasn't "very happy" about their breakup, but it made her a stronger person.
Fortunately, Kate and William got back together only a few months later. About their short separation, William said they were still very young and added:
"We were both defining ourselves as such and being different characters. It was very much trying to find our way, and we were growing up; it was just a bit of space."

POPPING THE QUESTION
On November 16, 2010, the couple announced their engagement. He gave her the sapphire-and-diamond engagement ring Princess Diana previously owned and revealed he popped the question in Kenya.
William and Kate married on April 29, 2011, and they went on their first royal tour a few months later. Her fashion diplomacy immediately surprised everybody as she wore only Canadian designers while visiting Canada.
The couple shares three children: Prince George, the oldest and future King of England, was born on July 22, 2013; Princess Charlotte joined the family on May 2, 2015; and Prince Louis was born on April 23, 2018.
BEING PERFECT FOR THE ROLE OF QUEEN
William is second in the line of succession to the British throne, so he is expected to become King of England after Charles.
He and Kate have been taking more royal duties, and a family friend revealed she is prepared to become Queen Consort and support her husband when the time comes.
The source pointed out that she gets "more impressive" over time, mainly because she is determined and professional. Kate is reportedly trying to help William and Harry make amends and is seen as the family's peacemaker.
Queen Elizabeth also recognizes Kate's hardworking personality and values her support, so she "will rely on [Kate] more than ever" in 2022. Way to go!
