Gayle King Is a Proud Mother and Grandmother — Meet Her Lookalike Offspring
Tv personality Gayle King has an adorable nickname for her grandson, Luca. Her daughter, Kirby, welcomed her first child with her husband, Virgil Miller, in September 2021.
Gayle King is a proud mother of her two children, Kirby Bumpus and William Bumpus Jr., whom she shares with her ex-husband William Bumpus. And in recent months, she became a grandmother.
King treasures her children as she refers to them as her favorite. Her favorite son is William, the youngest of her two children, born in April 1987. Before moving to California, he studied at Duke University. He currently lives in Santa Monica with his dog, Scott.

Of course, he still makes trips to see his mom and family and will appear on King's Instagram account, especially for special events such as Christmas and his sister's wedding, where he was the officiant.
Although William is all grownup, King is still protective and worries about him. In June 2020, King spoke candidly about her worries about his safety amid the Black Lives Matter Protests. She explained on The Talk:
"I worry for him being a Black man, period. And now everybody is so amped up about everything. I do, I worry a lot about his safety. Welcome to being Black in America."
At the moment, William seems to only feature on his mother's Instagram account. Although she has tagged him in her photos, it seems his account is currently not active.
William usually features on his mother's social media platform alongside his older sister and his mother's favorite daughter, Kirby, born in May 1986. She is a health educator, world traveler, and mentor, according to her own Instagram.
Kirby and her now-husband Virgil Miller have been busy the last three years. They celebrated their engagement in 2019 and later tied the knot during a COVID-friendly ceremony as her godmother, Oprah Winfrey's home.
Only six people attended the wedding, including the bride and groom, King, William, Oprah, and her longtime partner, Stedman Graham. Shortly after the nuptials, King told O-Magazine:
"It wasn't the wedding we planned, but it was absolutely perfect. Kirby really is so happy, and nothing beats when your children are happy."
Less than a year after their wedding, Kirby and Miller welcomed their first child, a son who they named Luca. King was "over the moon" to welcome her first grandchild and quickly referred to him as her favorite grandchild.
King later admitted that she has another sweet nickname for Luca. During an interview with Stephen Colbert on "The Late Show," King said she has a little melody that goes, "Luca-uke-lele, what a pretty baby."
King has welcomed being a grandmother. While co-hosting CBS, the excited King remarked that although people have grandchildren every day, it was different when you welcomed your own into the world.
She also plans to reread Lesley Stahl's book, "Becoming Grandma: The Joys and Science of the New Grandparenting," because she will understand it in a much different way now than when she was not a grandparent.
