When a father gave his son up for adoption, he never imagined their paths would cross again. However, years later, they found each other unexpectedly.

Nathan Boos of Tilden, Wisconsin, knew he was adopted as a newborn and never asked about his biological parents. However, a reunion with his birth dad happened by chance after something caught his adoptive mom's attention in 2018.

She knew who the father of her son was, and when she saw that they were friends on Facebook, she was perplexed. The mother found out that Robert Degaro worked in the same industry as her son and started to connect the dots.

THEY WERE FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK

Both Boos and Degaro were truck drivers and had worked together at Rock Solid Transport in Chippewa Falls for two years. They quickly became friends without any knowledge of their familial connection.

They might never have known they were father and son if not for their Facebook friendship. Boos shared: "[My mother] just went on my Facebook and went through my friend's list and brought up his picture, and I said get out of here."

THEY WERE SHOCKED

Degaro nearly fell out of his chair when Boos sent him a message revealing their connection. The pair were shocked, but fortunately, they already had a friendship that they planned to build even more.

Degaro and his former partner gave up Boos when he was a baby because they did not have the means to provide for him. The birth mother chose her distant cousins as the adoptive parents and said goodbye to their son.

THERE HAVE BEEN CHALLENGES

The father thought he would most likely never see his son again, but years later, their paths crossed unintentionally. Working on their new relationship dynamic has had its fair share of challenges.

Degaro expressed:

"It’s still kind of a shock and there are days I'm not sure exactly what to say or how to act. I mean he is my son but we didn't have that father-son relationship growing up and then we became working partners.

TAKING IT DAY BY DAY

Despite the difficulties of navigating the surprising discovery, both men take it day by day and allow their friendship to grow naturally. According to Boos, the unexpected reunion has also given them a sense of peace.

Boos was looking forward to having his biological dad at his upcoming wedding, and he was grateful for the opportunity to get to know him better.

ANOTHER SPECIAL FATHER AND SON REUNION

Unexpected reunions often leave families stunned and happy, and the same can be said for Silver Young, from Fresno, California. The man, who saw his father after a 33-year separation, was emotional because he had thought his dad was dead.

However, Young received a Facebook message from someone who claimed to be his half-sister. She sent photographic proof and told him that his dad was still alive. He was stunned, and the siblings quickly planned a special reunion in 2018.

Young was grateful to have been reunited with his dad after three decades and all because of a Facebook message. Social media also connected Boos and his dad, proving how helpful it can be in reconnecting long-lost family members.
