Brazilian actor Wagner Moura's life changed in 2013 when he got a call inviting him to play legendary drug kingpin Pablo Escobar in the series "Narcos." Little did Moura know his life was about to change for good.

The Portuguese-speaking actor threw himself into full preparation for this role and began taking Spanish classes. He moved to Medellin in early 2014, months before shooting began, to get accustomed to the culture and story of the role he was to play.

Moura did not only task himself for "Narcos," but his family also partook. The actor revealed that his children had to learn Spanish as the family began a whole new life.

Playing Escobar was no ordinary feat. Although he had the talent for the role, producers did not deem his physical appearance a perfect match with Escobar's. As a result, he had to gain about 40 pounds.

Moura confessed that the series was both physically and emotionally draining. The actor recalled shooting his last scene at the exact spot where the real Pablo Escobar was killed and the intense emotions that came with it.

Having devoted more than two years of his life to playing a drug lord, Moura was pleased to return to his usual life and shed the weight he had picked up. The "Narcos" actor believes he lived Escobar's life for two years.

Playing Escobar made Moura view the deceased drug lord in another light. While Escobar is regarded as vicious and a terror to those who oppose him, Moura got to see him as a loving father to his children and devoted to his native Medellin.

Fatherhood is an experience that Moura understands well. The Brazilian actor shares three children with his wife, visual artist Sandra Delgado and the couple has a lovely relationship.

Moura and his wife have been together since 2001. According to the actor, they have never been technically married but have spent over two decades together with their children, Bem, Salvador, and José.

The "Sergio" actor once planned to make things formal with his long-term partner by proposing marriage, but shockingly, Delgado reportedly laughed off his proposal, leaving the actor heartbroken for a short while.

Moura's wife, Delgado, is a well-regarded photographer in her native Brazil. According to her website, she's involved in engraving, video, audio, and installations. Due to the demands of her career, Delgado splits her time between Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles.

Moura and his wife appear to have a strong bond and enjoy parenting their kids. Moura loves to be a dad and often talks about his dad-duty with pride.
