Julia Roberts Privately Wed Husband on 4th of July a Month after He Divorced His Ex — Inside Their Love Story
After a few failed relationships, award-winning actress Julia Roberts pledged her forever to a fresh divorcee on the 4th of July, inviting very few friends to their intimate wedding ceremony.
The couple created the most surreal romance, synonymous with something from a telenovela — inside their love story.
"Pretty Woman" star Julia Roberts has always been a sight to behold, and apart from her thriving career and good looks, her charming personality makes her people's favorite.

For Roberts, several men have been her favorite, and the actress' love history bears intriguing details.
The "Pretty Woman" star was linked to Liam Neeson, Matthew Perry, and Jason Patric. She was also married to singer Lyle Lovett, for nearly two years, before dating Kiefer Sutherland, with whom she had a much-acclaimed breakup.
Towards the end of the 1990s, she enjoyed a long relationship with actor Benjamin Bratt. This was one of Roberts's most talked-about romances, as the pair could not curtail their happiness; they often spoke highly about each other.

Bratt once described his lover as "an incredible woman," while Roberts often gushed about how compassionate her boyfriend appeared and was known to talk about their romance while on the "Erin" movie set.
The actress confirmed that she was "ecstatically happy" in her relationship with Bratt without mincing words. For the actor, they reaped the benefits of their relationship because of their formula of balancing things and "keeping it real."

Eventually, there was trouble in paradise. Some media sources theorized it was because Roberts refused to marry; another claimed that she did not agree to move closer to her lover, who complained that their long separation and work schedules were affecting their love life.
The tabloids also reported that Bratt called off the relationship when he noticed how intimate she had become with George Clooney, whom she co-starred with on "Ocean 11."
In 2001, the story of their breakup was confirmed, and the headlines pointed at her and Clooney's alleged romance. Sources asserted that the actress was devastated.

A few weeks later, the real story was heard from the horse's mouth. Roberts, looking relatively calm, admitted that the affair had ended, adding that it had nothing to do with a rumored love story involving George Clooney.
She criticized the inaccurate reports from the media, explaining that it was a "tender-hearted end." However, the "Pretty Woman" star also spoke well of her ex-lover, calling him a "good" and "fine" man.

On the other hand, Bratt revealed that he never expected the relationship to be ideal, adding that even Roberts did not enjoy it.
He also talked about the media attention that has been a curse following the split. According to him:
"You don't build your house in a redwood grove if you don't like shade. It's like a fly that won't leave you alone. It's that mosquito that buzzes in your ear."

Following the separation, Roberts continued with work, and that was when she met Danny Moder, a cameraman on the set of "The Mexican."
At the time, Moder was married to make-up artist Vera. However, insiders believed that their four-year marriage was already on the brink of crashing.
However, it was not until he became friendly and close to Roberts, whom he helped shake off the breakup effects, that Moder decided to leave his wife.

The duo began a relationship that lasted longer than a fling. They later spent time in each other's home: they shuffled between his modest L.A. house and her luxurious Taos ranch.
People who noticed the couple could tell that their love for each other was genuine. One of Roberts' friends confessed that Moder was a supportive lover who celebrated the actress.

The onscreen maven maintained that their love was built on a solid foundation of friendship. While speaking to Oprah Winfrey, she explained that they had been friends for a long time.
Roberts, who admitted to feeling content with life and at home in her Taos ranch, added that falling in love felt horrible because she was unsure about his feelings and would have hated losing his friendship.

Once their friendship metamorphosed into a romance, they were determined to be each other's final stops. Before sharing their wedding vows, they got tattoos of each other's initials on their lower backs.
Throughout this time, Moder had not finalized his divorce with Vera, so the entertainers did not have the chance to put a proper tag on their relationship.
However, barely a month after the court declared him single, Moder became Roberts' first husband, while she became his second wife.

The actress decided to make her Taos ranch the venue for their intimate wedding ceremony, even though they could afford a more beautiful place.
What mattered most to her was that she had found the love of her life, and she wanted the media out of it.
So Roberts invited family and close pals to what she tagged an independence day celebration scheduled for July 4.

The couple dressed in cute apparel. Moder opted for a red ruffled shirt and tan pants while his bride, a pale pink cotton dress with flowery designs. While recounting the story that followed, a guest said:
"Danny got down on one knee and said, 'In front of everyone we love, I want to know, will you marry me?' And Julia grabbed her heart and said, 'Yes, yes, yes.' And all the guests were saying 'Yes, yes, yes' along with her."

Despite the surprise, guests were happy that these two heartbroken people found love with each other. An invitee added:

Following their happy ending, the actress had an honest interview where she visited the allegations of her being a homewrecker. However, she maintained that she did not interfere with Moder's commitment to Vera. In her words:
"I'm an easy person to point the finger at. I don't begrudge people the easy finger-point. It just doesn't happen to be so."

Thankfully, neither Moder nor Roberts continued to pay attention to the naysayers. Their ultimate goal was to be happy. This has not been challenging because her husband always puts effort into making her comfortable despite her popularity.
Their love story brings to mind a fulfilling journey, as Moder taught her to believe in love again. However, Roberts was also willing to open her heart to new possibilities, and today, they are one of Hollywood's power couples.
BECOMING PARENTS AND LIFE AFTER
Two years after their wedding vows, the couple, aged 37 and 35 respectively, welcomed twins, a son, Phinnaeus Walter, and a daughter, Hazel Patricia.
Shortly after their kids were born, Roberts purchased 32 acres of an estate in New Mexico, Taos, not too far from her first ranch.
She bought this for the benefit of her growing family. Two years after purchasing the vast land, a newborn, Henry Daniel, joined the Roberts-Moder family.
Handling motherhood and a thriving career were not easy, but with the help of a supportive husband, Roberts emerged as a successful superwoman. She once admitted that she tattooed her kids' names on her lower back on a talk show.
Thankfully, motherhood did not get in the way of her love or commitment to Moder, who she constantly adores and gushes about. While celebrating Moder's birthday in January, she shared a cute side photo of her husband holding a surf board. She captioned it:
"Happy Everything. You make my world go round."
What began with accusations and bickering from the media turned into a brave love story. The couple has been together for twenty years and is waxing stronger because Roberts prioritizes her family ahead of work.
