Cruise and Katie Holmes' relationship and breakup were among the most controversial in Hollywood in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The former couple welcomed a child, Suri, in April 2006, married later that year, and divorced in 2012.

The "Mission: Impossible" actor revealed that Holmes' decision to keep Suri away from the Church of Scientology was crucial in their separation.
