Toby Keith, a seven-time Grammy nominee named entertainer of the year by the Academy of Country Music two years in a row in 2002 and 2003, announced his diagnosis of stomach cancer on June 12, 2022.

In November 2021, he was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, and his first single, "I Should Have Been a Cowboy," became Billboard Magazine's most-played Country song of the 1990s.

The 60-year-old country legend took to Instagram to reveal his diagnosis to his fans. Toby said:

"Last fall, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I've spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family."

Toby's latest tour was scheduled to start on June 17, 2022. His publicist, Elaine Schock, has revealed that Toby will not be performing at scheduled gigs. However, Toby said he couldn't wait to see his fans and hoped to see them sooner than later.

Krystal, born Krystal Ladawn Covel on September 30, 1985, is a country music singer like her legendary father. She is Toby's second daughter with his wife, Tricia Covel (née Lucus).

Besides being the mother of two girls, she is also the sister of Stelen Keith Covel. On her maternal side, Krystal has a half-sister named Shelley Covel Rowland. She is also the wife of Andrew Robert Sandubrae, whom she married on October 23, 2010.

Despite having a busy father, Toby inspired Krystal to go into country music, and she has built an impressive country music career for herself. Krystal made her first chart entry when she sang with her father in 2004.
