Prince William clocked 40 on Tuesday and was expected to celebrate the milestone with an "in style" party. However, he ended up spending time at a small intimate party his wife threw him to mark his new age. Here are the details.

Clocking 40 is no joke for members of the royal family, and this year, it was Prince William's turn. The handsome royal was expected to host a lavish bash on an auspicious day along with his wife, Kate, because her own party preparations had to be canceled due to COVID-19.

Believing the couple had earned the right to celebrate their landmark birthday "in style," he was allowed to host the event at the Queen's Windsor Castle or Sandringham Estate.

It was reported that senior royals, including the Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall, and The Queen were to make an appearance as it is a royal tradition for them to gather in celebration of a decade milestone for senior members.

Many were looking forward to the party, and William started the celebration early. On his birthday weekend, William devoted his time to doing good deeds and was entirely focused on the big issue of homelessness.

In footage that was shared via the official Twitter page dedicated to him and his wife, William was seen out in the public selling newspapers to the British people alongside an older vendor. In the video, he spoke about homelessness and revealed that the topic had always stuck with him since he first visited a charity with his mother at the age of 11.

He also shared his plans to take his kids to visit homeless people and stated that he had reached a turning point in his life which has made him confident that the problem of homelessness can be fixed if everyone joins hands together to make things better so that the younger generation will not have to experience it.

Their sore relationship, as well as the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Prince Andrew, has pushed him closer to his father.

The video melted many hearts, and Twitter users praised him for his thoughtfulness, with many declaring that he would make a fine king. Not one to be ungrateful, William rewarded the newspaper vendor, Dave Martin, who was kind enough to take him under his wing for a day of experience selling newspapers with slices of his 40th birthday cake.

On Monday, the Duke declared his intention to use his birthday to renew his pledge to use his station to shed more light on the problem of homelessness in a self-written article that was featured in the Big Issue, the same newspaper he sold on the streets of Hammersmith with Martin.

A SURPRISE PARTY FIT FOR A DUKE

Despite the tradition that puts a lot of importance on a royal hitting the milestone of turning 40, a source has revealed that William has no "big hang-ups" about his new age because he considers each passing year as an achievement in his life.

He spent his birthday eve working at the Kensington Palace and had plans to simply pick his kids up from school for tea; however, Kate had other plans.

A source told US Weekly that the doting wife had a special birthday surprise for her husband in the works. However, rather than a massive party as was expected by many, she made it an intimate party to be attended by friends because she was well aware of the fact that her husband preferred to remain low-key.

For Kate, her husband's birthday, which fell on June 21, was doubly special because it was also the day her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, were celebrating their wedding anniversary. The pair live in Berkshire and celebrated 42 years of wedded bliss since they married in 1980.

The royal family was among the first to share an honorary tribute to the Prince on his birthday, and those close to him also congratulated him on his latest milestone.

In response, he took to the Cambridge official Twitter page to thank everyone who celebrated him, whether they did so in person or from their respective social media pages.

It remains unclear whether his brother Harry was among those who congratulated him; however, royal insiders previously admitted that they did not see him doing that because of where things stood between the two families.

They were not invited to the birthday bash Kate threw for her husband either. Harry and his wife, Meghan, are currently living in Montecito, USA.

An insider once confessed that Meghan has grown weary of extending olive branches that are thrown back in their faces, and given how they were treated at the queen's jubilee, the couple may not be making overtures to fix things any time soon.

At 40, Williams has a lot to be proud of; His relationship with his wife has been touted by many as one of the greatest modern royal relationships, and he shares a strong bond with all three of his kids, Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.

He has also found satisfaction in striking a balance between the demands of being a senior royal required to keep up public appearances and keeping a private family. He knows that they have to be exposed to the public, but he has also managed to raise his family with as much normalcy as they can afford with help from his wife.

His relationship with Prince Charles, with whom he has not always been on the best of terms, has also greatly improved, though it is partially because of his estrangement from Harry.

Their sore relationship, as well as the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Prince Andrew, has pushed him closer to his father, which is a good thing because they need to spend a lot of time since William will soon take over most of what he handles.

Soon, William and his family are scheduled to move to Windsor Castle, putting them at the heart of the family heritage and closer to the now-frail Queen Elizabeth.

According to a source, their kids look forward to a life in the countryside for many reasons. At the same time, William and Kate are relieved they can be closer to Carole Middleton, who is always available to watch their kids when they travel out of London for various engagements.

Already William and Kate have been able to "blend in with locals" during their visits, and there is also the fact that their new residence will be much closer to the Middletons in Buckleberry. Clearly, the future has a lot to offer for the Cambridges moving forward, and royal fans can't wait to watch it all unfold.
