Miranda Lambert has had her share of complicated relationships with her exes, but her husband's romantic past was equally riddled with controversy, including claims he cheated on his ex-fiancé.

For American country singer Miranda Lambert, the past decade has been a romantic rollercoaster. Before dating her now-husband, Brendan McLoughlin, she went through a series of complicated relationships - including a previous marriage, a painful divorce, and a few quick but short-lived romances.

Months after her four-year-long marriage with singer-songwriter Blake Shelton ended in 2015, the "Settling Down" singer began dating R&B artist Anderson East. An Us Weekly source close to Lambert mentioned she and East were "really enjoying each other's company" at the time.

After a messy divorce in the public eye, East seemed like the perfect person for Lambert to date. A source close to East had revealed that the “Wildcard” singer “couldn't have picked a better dude to have fun with.”

The couple celebrated two years together before the internet started noticing a possible rift between them. Lambert and East had stopped sharing about each other on social media, and there were rumors of a breakup.

This suspicion was eventually confirmed by multiple sources close to Lambert. One of them even told Us Weekly that the duo could also possibly get back together in the future.

A few months later, an insider revealed that Lambert had started seeing someone else while still dating East. Lambert was on tour at that time, and it was reported that she grew close to “Turnpike Troubadours” singer Evan Felker.

This new romantic chapter in Lambert's life also reached an early end. After just a few months of dating, the “Vice” singer confirmed that she and Felker had called it quits and that she was "happily single." She added that despite the ups and downs of her love life, she was grateful for the songs they inspired.

A few months later, “The Pistol Annies” singer performed on an episode of “Good Morning America.” This came to be the first time she met her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, a New York City police officer.

As reported by People, Lambert soon fell head-over-heels in love with McLoughlin, who is ten years younger than her. After dating for three months, Lambert and McLoughlin secretly tied the knot on January 26, 2019, at a farm on the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee.

She revealed the news to her online fans and followers on the occasion of Valentine's Day, writing:

"I met the love of my life. And we got hitched!"

Eventually, the "Heart Like Mine" singer opened up about why she kept her wedding under wraps. For her, a private wedding was a conscious choice, especially after experiencing heavy public scrutiny over her past relationships.

Speaking of her first marriage, she said that the divorce was just as big and public as the wedding, and she wanted it to be different this time. The lead singer chose to keep many of the details of her wedding day a secret. But she did reveal that not even the Pistol sisters were invited to the event. She said, "this was mine and his moment," and went on to add:

"I feel like I've been through enough in my life to know what I don't want, so when I know what I do want, I snatch it right up."

WHEN BRENDAN MCLOUGHLIN'S MESSY FORMER ENGAGEMENT WAS REVEALED

Despite the happiness that Lambert seems to have found in her marriage, it turned out to be even more complicated than her previous messy romances. McLoughlin's muddled romantic past came to light in a report by Us Weekly that broke just weeks after their wedding.

Before marrying Lambert, he was briefly engaged to television news reporter Jackie Bruno. Jackie's mother, Carol, claimed the NYPD officer had an affair with another woman named Kaihla Rettinger and impregnated her while still engaged to her daughter.

Carol claimed that her daughter was completely blindsided by the affair and that it was Rettinger who ultimately told her the truth. She added that even after confronting him, McLoughlin tried to deny the affair and begged Jackie to stay.

Carol revealed that McLoughlin and Jackie had been together for close to two years, and engaged for a few months. Carol also claimed that McLoughlin often had dinner at her house while leaving a pregnant Rettinger in his home.

Carol called him "a lying, cheating, conniving, narcissistic [person.]" Speaking about Jackie's reaction to the secret nuptials, Carol said that it had left Jackie "mortified," adding: "The New York City police officer had been leading 'a secret double life'.”

Despite having complicated pasts, Lambert and McLoughlin seem to be happily married and celebrated their third wedding anniversary this year. The 38-year-old performer shared a celebratory picture to commemorate the special occasion.

Over the last three years, the singer has also willingly accepted the role of stepmother to McLoughlin's son Landon. In a 2019 interview with Extra, Lambert spoke about her relationship with the boy, saying:

"My stepson is amazing."

Earlier this year, it was reported that Lambert and McLoughlin were trying for a baby. A source close to Lambert revealed that they intended to plan for a baby soon after their third anniversary.

The insider also said that Lambert is thrilled and that Brendan has always looked forward to having children with her.

While the couple excitedly looks forward to having their first child together, Lambert continues to be there for 3-year-old Landon. Landon was born to Rettinger and McLoughlin merely days after the secret wedding.

In 2019, Lambert had opened up about her and her husband's special relationship with Landon, confessing that she loved spending time together and enjoyed the balance between life in New York City and Nashville.
