KEY FACTS ABOUT ALEXIS
Alexis was introduced to stardom at an early age by her mother, Martha. Her 80-year-old mom is a well-known entrepreneur and TV personality best known for her culinary skills.
"Martha Stewart Living," "Martha Bakes," and "The Martha Stewart Show" are among Alexis' mother's prominent TV programs. She even appeared on a show with rapper Snoop Dogg called "Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party."
Martha has several successful business ventures. She owns Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, a diversified media and merchandising company. Her then-husband, Andrew, also achieved success on his own.
Unfortunately, Martha and Andrew's relationship started to deteriorate as the couple's fame grew. Alexis's parents divorced in 1990 after 29 years of marriage.

She completed high school at The Putney School in Vermont and then got her bachelor's degree from Barnard College. She has been the host of the "Whatever" show on SIRIUS Satellite Radio since 2005.

Alexis was so intent on fulfilling her dream of becoming a mother that she spent around $28,000 every month on her quest to have a child.
She admitted to Oprah that she intended to become a mother when she was 36. However, she admitted that it was "not a good time."

Alexis reflected on why she had not yet started a family, including the fact that she was preoccupied with her career. Once she reached her 40s, she started visiting fertility doctors and attempted different procedures. Alexis confessed that trying to get pregnant was not easy because her eggs were "dry and crusty."
She took an assortment of drugs every month to help boost her egg count. In addition, Alexis would inject herself twice every evening with fertility drugs for 11 days after getting her period.

Alexis was so intent on fulfilling her dream of becoming a mother that she spent around $28,000 every month on her quest to have a child. She was grateful to her mom, who helped to finance the expensive treatments.
The radio host went on to say that she was very fortunate to have Martha as her mom, who also longed to become a grandmother. She said her famous mom had been supportive in other ways as well.

ALEXIS HAD A DIFFICULT RELATIONSHIP WITH HER MOTHER AND FATHER
While Alexis is grateful that Martha helped her financially during her journey to become a mother, there was a point in her life when she was unhappy with how her mother raised her. As a result, she became estranged from her renowned parent.
According to ABC News, in her book "Whateverland: Learning to Live Here," Alexis claimed in 2011 that Martha aspired for perfection on TV but was not a perfect parent. She also had a challenging relationship with her father.
Of her two parents, Alexis was more distant from her mother. She disclosed that her mother was entirely hands-off with her upbringing. It is impossible to beat her mother at anything, she says in the book.

Alexis said her mom would make her start over if the task at hand was not completed to her satisfaction. She joked that she was raised with a glue gun aimed at her head.
The radio host also revealed that her mother was not as pleasant as her public persona appeared. While recalling her childhood experiences, Alexis claimed that Martha was so engrossed with her career that she forgot to put food in the refrigerator.
Martha insisted that Alexis wrap her own holiday presents, and they never did trick-or-treating because the media mogul found Halloween a "grim affair."
She recalled that instead of enjoying the season, they turned out the lights and pretended they were not at home. As she claimed in the book, her mother was simply "not interested in being kid-friendly."
Aside from her alleged questionable parenting style, Martha also has a reputation for not being the best boss. She has been described as a "control freak" who reduces her staff to tears with her strict management style.
