Before Victoria Beckham married David Beckham, she had to contest infidelity rumors against him while she was pregnant with their first child. It took some groveling and time for her to move on, and now the couple is stronger than ever.

Before she became a Beckham, Victoria Adams met David Beckham in 1997. On January 25, 1998, after the former Manchester United player fell in love, he proposed to the Spice Girl with a three-carat, marquise-cut engagement ring from Boodle and Dunthorpe.

His ring was a matching one that had 96 diamonds, and they celebrated their engagement shortly afterward with a romantic holiday in Marbella, Spain. After two years of dating, the couple tied the knot in 1999.

In his autobiography, written shortly after their wedding, David revealed that he had chosen her from the television while she fell for him on a soccer sticker book. The former soccer player revealed that when they met, it felt like they'd "always been meant to be together."

The pair became one of the hottest celebrity couples. However, like any other couple, the Beckhams had their ups and downs and some complex challenges that could've ended their union.

David and his future wife met in early 1997 at the Manchester United players' lounge. Back then, Victoria was known as the Spice Girls' Posh Spice, while the athlete was about to become a global star because of his European soccer career.

It was love at first sight for the pair, and on January 24, 1998, they announced that they were engaged during a press conference. Four months before their wedding day, the former singer welcomed their first child, Brooklyn, on March 4, 1999.

Their wedding was held on July 4, 1999, in Ireland at Luttrellstown Castle near Dublin. Things seemed to be going great for the couple, and on September 1, 2002, they welcomed their second son, Romeo.

Victoria and David's third son, Cruz, was born on February 20, 2005, while the family lived in Spain. The couple finally welcomed a daughter, Harper, on July 10, 2011, a week after their 12th wedding anniversary.

THE CHEATING SCANDAL THAT ALMOST DESTROYED DAVID AND VICTORIA'S RELATIONSHIP

While Victoria was pregnant with Brooklyn, her then-fiancé was accused of cheating with another woman. In her 2001 autobiography, "Learning to Fly," the fashion designer saw red.

In her book, she revealed how she "went straight up to him and just swung at him, punched him." The star explained how she hadn't planned it and hadn't assaulted anyone before but acted on instinct, saying:

"I just felt angry and hurt."

Both Victoria and David were distraught over the allegations, and she experienced suicidal thoughts, but he continued to deny the claims. The couple went to Lake Como, Italy, to try and figure things out.

Eventually, the former singer decided she believed her fiancé, and they married after their firstborn son joined them. However, the hard times were over as they filtered into their marriage.

Four months after Victoria and David were hit by claims that their 19-year marriage was on the rocks, the former athlete made some remarks that allegedly upset his wife. In a 2018 interview, David confessed that his marriage was "hard work," adding:

“It becomes a little more complicated.”

According to a friend, his statement was as if a "nuclear bomb had gone off" in the couple's house. Reports stated that the fashion designer left and enrolled herself in a German stress-management clinic to deal with her husband's poorly timed remarks.

Friends alleged that David was trying to distance himself from his wife while she tried to give an impression that they were a united front amid the break-up rumors. His "The Sunday Project" interview apparently left her devastated.

The sources said Victoria had no idea why her husband would publicly embarrass her and state something so insensitive. The star allegedly spent two days crying after the interview.

Some signs that made people believe the pair were close to divorcing included David buying a million-dollar Cotswolds home in his name. The house was the first one the duo didn't register in their names.

The couple also sold their Beverly Hills mansion, and the former soccer star parted ways with Simon Fuller, his long-term manager. However, Fuller stayed on as Victoria's career guide.

Reports also revealed that David stopped funding his wife's struggling business empire. Victoria once confessed that she was scared that by the time she and her husband reached their 20th anniversary, they would have nothing to say to each other.

Despite all their challenges, Victoria and David managed to stay married, and in 2022, they celebrated 23 years together! The former soccer star took to Instagram to celebrate the special milestone with an old interview video.

In its caption, he revealed that Posh became Mrs. Beckham 23 years ago but that she would always be the Spice Girl he fell in love with. He wished her a happy anniversary and shared his shock at how long they'd been together.

Victoria's husband also acknowledged that they'd welcomed four children during that time before declaring his love to her. The businesswoman uploaded an Instagram image of her with her husband, writing:

"They say he isn’t funny, they say I never smile, they said it wouldn’t last."

She celebrated the over two decades of marriage, described her husband as her "everything," and proclaimed her love. Romeo, then 19, also paid tribute to his parents for their anniversary by posting an Instagram Story image of himself with the duo.

He called them "the best parents in the world," while Cruz, then 17, also shared the same photo his mother used for her dedication. Tagging both David and Victoria in the post, he wished them a happy anniversary and also shared his love.

The only Beckham children who didn't say anything publicly were Brooklyn, who was celebrating his honeymoon, and little Harper, then 10. The eldest sibling was with his bride, Nicola Peltz, on holiday in St Tropez.

Judging by the children's posts, it appears that Victoria and David have built a solid family life for their offspring. The odds have remained in their favor, and we wish them many more decades together in love and filled with happiness!
