Claire Stoermer is a name that became known by many because of her famous daughter, Zendaya. Her beloved daughter's fame and popularity automatically put the spotlight on the creative jewelry designer, making Zendaya fans curious about her.


"Euphoria" star Zendaya's mother, Claire Stoermer, leads a fascinating life after having different professions over the years. One of her current jobs is jewelry-making, and she started a handmade jewelry line.

Passionate, inspiring, and a doting mom are all apt descriptions of Claire. Here are some interesting facts about the mother of one of Hollywood's most successful stars.

Claire Stoermer, whose full name is Claire Maree Stoermer, was born on March 24, 1964, to Phillip Hillary Stoermer and Daphne Carol Whitelaw in Oakland, California. She attended Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and got her degree from Santa Clara University in California, where she graduated in 1987.

When it comes to her roots, Claire is of Dutch, German, and Scottish ancestry. In 2021, she spoke about her Scottish roots during an interview with Daily Mail. Claire revealed that her grandfather was a heroic World War I soldier. She said:

"He fought in the First World War for about a year. He was shot in the shoulder while in the trenches and came home [to Canada] with shrapnel wounds."


Claire is taller than your average woman, which is evident in some of her pictures. In March 2020, she took to her Instagram and shared a hilarious photo about people's reactions to tall people. The image was of a woman holding a sign that said:


The responses to her post were funny, with one person saying, "Hush. It's envy and wonder from us shorties," and another commenting, "Never noticed," with a laughing emoji.

Claire is very active on Instagram and has over 120,000 followers. She usually shares photos of herself, her lovely daughter Zendaya, her dogs, and her jewelry.



Claire Stoermer is an elementary school teacher, and Zendaya has often expressed how inspired she is by her mother's passion and commitment. Speaking to Teen Vogue, Zendaya said:

"Growing up, I watched my mom teach in the heart of Oakland, California, at inner-city schools that were always underfunded. My mom went above and beyond, working constantly to open her students’ eyes to an education that could lift them far beyond their current circumstances."

She went on to reveal how this caused her to realize how important education is, saying, "Watching her was magical; it instilled within me a true appreciation of and devotion to the importance of education."


Before becoming a teacher, Claire Stroemer was a house manager at the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda. According to her daughter, this inspired her to pursue an acting career.

Her most recent venture is jewelry making for her brand, Kizzmet Jewelry. She sells handmade jewelry pieces that her daughter often wears. Claire regularly shares photos of her jewelry, and in one post, she displayed her exquisite pieces with the caption:

"[I] love making jewelry! [Go] check out my page...@kizzmetjewelry on IG!! [See] what [I've] been up to!"



Claire Stoermer divorced her husband of eight years, Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, in 2016. Kazembe reportedly met Claire in the 1990s, and they had Zendaya, their only child, in 1996. The couple decided to tie the knot in 2008.

She eventually filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. At the time, her documents stated that she was not seeking spousal support from Kazembe. Despite their separation, Claire and Kazembe are co-parenting amicably.

The 58-year-old only has one child, Zendaya, and they are very close. She has been supportive of her career from the beginning and is clearly proud of her daughter's achievements as she frequently posts about her on social media. The mother-daughter duo also sometimes goes to events together.


Claire seems relatively close to her family as she sometimes posts photos of her parents and siblings on Instagram. She has five siblings who are older than her.


Zendaya, whose full name is Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman, is a multi-talented actress and singer. She catapulted to stardom after appearing on numerous Disney Channel shows such as "K.C. Undercover" and "Shake It Up." She then featured in "Euphoria" and won an Emmy in 2020 for her role.

The 25-year-old shares a close bond with her mother and often posts about her on social media. Claire adores her daughter and posted a sweet tribute on her Instagram in 2021 to celebrate Zendaya's birthday.


She ended her message by saying:

"Just know that I am with you always, and I love you forever, always, and more. Happy birthday my beautiful sweet child! Love mommy."

Fans in the comment section appreciated Claire for having such a wonderful daughter. "Thank you for her we appreciate you!!!" one person wrote. Another commented, "You can feel the love you have for each other & I think it is absolutely beautiful. You raised one hell of a human being. I love seeing strong & fierce mother-daughter bonds like this & the one my daughter & I have."


Back in 2018, Zendaya posted adorable throwback photos of her and Claire. Fans loved it, and the comment section was filled with remarks about how cute and pretty they are, with one fan saying, "You are so cute, awwww," and another wrote, "So sweet!!!" The actress also defended her mother and father from trolls in late 2018.
