Later, he found out that Kumala didn't know his name and had stored his number as "Sunset 4" because his number was the fourth number she got that night. After a couple of phone conversations, they started hanging out, and in March 2004, Holloway proposed to Kumala. She said:

"You see it a lot in Hollywood: Somebody makes it [big] and drops their partner. He asked me to marry him when he did the 'Lost' pilot."

Kumala and her fiancé eloped to Kauai on October 1, 2004 — days after ABC picked up "Lost" for the whole season. They got married in a private ceremony. In October 2005, after being a couple for seven years, the pair celebrated their first wedding anniversary.

Kumala's husband said the island was "phenomenal" while its beauty brought tears to his eyes, and having a gorgeous beach as an office wasn't so bad. Her husband once noted how he believed one's partner should be their best friend, too, because one needed someone they wouldn't always have to be romantic with.

The actor shared how being able to be friends took the pressure off of them. Showing how close he was to his wife, for 2022's Valentine's Day, Holloway uploaded fun Instagram pictures of the daughters, whom they welcomed later, enjoying themselves while dressed up.

The youngest was dressed like her father in baggy clothes, a cowboy hat, and a stuffed belly! The older girl mimicked Kumala by wearing what their mother presumably wore with heels and glasses, with the celebrity laughed as he wrote:

In 2005, Kumala and her husband were robbed at gunpoint in their Honolulu home.

To celebrate 2023's Mother's Day, Holloway shared a rare Instagram photo of his wife and wished her a happy day. He also lovingly described her as the "best mom that ever was" before sharing his gratitude for "the miracles.
