ANNIE'S YOUNGER SISTER: GET TO KNOW RUBY GUEST

The younger sister, Ruby, who Curtiz and her husband also adopted as an infant, was born in 1996; She grew up to become a video game editor. While growing up, she began questioning her identity when a transgender friend asked her what her gender was. In 2021, she spoke about this with People:

"When I was about 16, a friend of mine who is trans asked me what my gender was. I told them, 'Well, I'm male.' After, I'd dwell on the thought. I knew I was — maybe not Ruby per se, but I knew I was different. But I had a negative experience in therapy, so I didn't come out [as trans] immediately when I probably should have."

She stated that almost a decade later, following this interaction, she came out to her then-fiancé, who said they loved them for who they were. She and her husband, Kynthia, married on May 9, 2022, in the family's backyard with a World of Warcraft-themed ceremony.

In WoW cosplay, her mom officiated the wedding in full costume as Jaina Proudmoore, a sorceress from the online game franchise, a testament to her mother's acceptance and love of her daughter. Speaking about coming out as trans to her parents, Ruby expressed:

"It was scary — just the sheer fact of telling them something about me they didn't know...It was intimidating — but I wasn't worried. They had been so accepting of me my entire life."

While Jamie Lee Curtis said she loves her daughter as she is, the terminology has been a learning curve, and she does make mistakes. But, Ruby doesn't mind much and understands it is an adjustment.

Initially, when Ruby was so frightened of coming out, she let her parents know via text, after which her mom called immediately and admitted that she did cry during the exchange. However, the family was not in complete shock as there were signs.

Some include that before Ruby transitioned, she used the word "bisexual" to describe herself, which some thought was revealing. Ruby constantly chose female avatars in video games as well. When it came time to become the gender she is, Curtis looked on with awe and pride as her daughter transitioned into who she truly is.

In March 2022, Curtis shared a social media post for Ruby's 26th birthday. In the caption, the star vowed to use her right to freedom of speech and her vote to support her child and all children to help them live as they are. Ever-accepting her children, she also went on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" and spoke proudly of her daughter's World of Warcraft wedding.
