Most parents know the constant worry that comes with having children, always wanting to protect them from all the harm in the world. The possibility of having your child taken away from you is a parent's worst nightmare.

When a parent is not around to provide this protection for their child, they hope that someone else is. A very lucky Florida mother has an unnamed local to thank for protecting her daughters when she could not.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

The chain of events began at Cherry's Bar and Grill in FishHawk. Hillsborough County Officials reported that 37-year-old David Daniels was seen with two young girls in the FishHawk community on one Sunday evening in June 2022, at around 6 p.m.

The two young girls were leaving the restaurant mentioned above when Daniels approached them. He did not know the girls, and the young girls most certainly did not know him.

After approaching the girls, Daniels allegedly told the children that he would walk them home. He insisted and proceeded to follow the girls.

THE LOCAL WOMAN KNEW SHE HAD TO STEP IN

Scared, the two young girls made the decision to stick together and rode their bicycles to a nearby church. There, a brave local woman, who wished not to be identified, said she saw the two children on their bikes. However, an adult was walking behind them— Daniels.

The nameless woman was outside the church nearby when she sensed something was not quite right. Officials said Daniels had been hitting one of the children on the head; he had done so multiple times and had one of the children in a headlock. The children were suspected to be of elementary school age.

The anonymous woman said Daniels was talking over one of the young girls; he allegedly said they had just moved to town, but she knew this was not the truth.

"We just moved here, we just want to see how we can help do whatever you're doing," the local woman recalls Daniels saying. He had an arm around one of the young girls' necks and appeared to be whispering something in her ear. The unnamed woman said:

"One of the little girls was mouthing to me, 'Please help me, this is not my dad.'"

The two young girls were in a potentially dangerous situation, and she knew she had to help; she knew she had to save the little girls.

SAVING THE TWO YOUNG GIRLS

"I engaged in conversation with him," the woman said. "I said, 'Oh, that's nice, where did you move here from?'" The woman was able to get the man and the children into the church; she called 911 as soon as she could, and the police later found Daniels not too far away, walking downtown.

The heroic woman said she did not want any credit for her actions. She did what she hoped someone else would do for her children.

SAFELY RETURNING THE CHILDREN TO THEIR MOTHER

This Florida woman recognized the signs that the girls were in an unsafe situation and knew the children needed her help. The children were safely returned to their mother; they were terrified, having believed they were going to be kidnapped by Daniels.

Their mother is speaking out and alerting other parents to the need to protect their children. She also gives credit to the local woman for potentially saving the lives of her children.

Meanwhile, David Daniels was held in the Hillsborough County Jail on a $104,000 bond. He was charged with two counts of false imprisonment of a child and child abuse.
