MOTHERHOOD AND RACISM

Sandra began the adoption process in 2006 when she was still married to West Coast Choppers founder Jesse James. She had no preferences regarding her adoptive child's race or gender.

The "Lost City" star and James always said it didn't matter where the child came from – they would get the baby that needed them. In January 2010, Louis Bardo Bullock joined the family.

Sandra explained that Louis was "always" her son as she never felt another family would take him away. Unfortunately, things complicated shortly after.

After several women claimed they had been romantically involved with James during his marriage to Sandra, she divorced him in June 2010.

Louis lost his father figure even before turning one, but the divorce didn't change Sandra's mind about motherhood. Instead, she fostered and adopted daughter Laila a few years later.

Sandra talked to the "Red Table Talk" hostesses about the difficulties of raising her Black children, Louis and Laila, as a White mom.

She revealed she let Louis see and process how the world works and how cruel and unfair it can be. Bullock also lets her children teach and tell her what they need to know. Some people have asked her about her decision to adopt two Black kids, and Sandra said:

"Guess what? You get the racism. Sure. A lot of it. Guess what? Your sickness is not my problem."

The "Blind Side" actress revealed she sometimes wishes their skins matched as it would ease how people approach them. However, she deals with the same issues every parent faces, regardless of race.

When Sandra adopted Laila in 2015, she and Randall had been in a relationship for a few months. He was both happy and scared, but Sandra admitted that although he didn't want anything to do with her lifestyle, he was the right person to help raise her kids.

Luckily, Randall has embraced his role as Louis and Laila's father, and the kids reportedly "adore" him. Randall is also dad to Skylar, his daughter from his relationship with Janine Staten.

The devastation the storm caused in New Orleans made Sandra feel that her child was there. Apart from that, she helped a school that sustained about $4 million in damages from the Hurricane.

The Bullock family embraced Louis right away. They all loved him, and the fact that he became the first boy in a family filled with girls turned him into the "crown prince."

Coming back to Louis Bardo Bullock, who Sandra affectionately calls her "little Cajun cookie," he loves dancing and is a foodie. His passion for food began during the coronavirus pandemic when he began mixing drinks. He even got a mocktail book.

Shortly after, Sandra Bullock's son began making bubble teas and spending more time in the kitchen. Eventually, he wanted to deep fry or coat everything in sugar.

Sandra took her two children on her "The Lost City" press tour, and her "supersensitive," wise, and kind son had multiple food destinations in mind.

Louis is probably proud of most of his mom's projects, but "The Lost City" holds a special place in his heart as it allowed him to meet Daniel Radcliffe. As a "Harry Potter" fan, Louis was thrilled.

Sandra also listens to her son's opinion on her career. When Louis was six, he told his mom not to take one role because he felt she was not in the right place. He was right, and she turned down the part.

He also led Sandra to adopt Laila. When he was about three, he told Sandra and a group of friends he didn't have "daughters" but would have one soon.

The actress explained she had not thought about enlarging her family yet, but her son knew their family was not complete even before she did.

WHO IS LOUIS BARDO BULLOCK'S SISTER, LAILA?

Although Laila and Louis were both adopted, their circumstances were different. Laila was in three foster care systems before Sandra found her at two-and-a-half years old. She initially served as the girl's foster parent, but she adopted her in 2015.

Apart from saying that Laila would be President of the United States, Sandra explained her daughter used to fight Channing Tatum's daughter, Everly when they attended the same preschool. They eventually became great friends.

Laila and Louis Bardo Bullock have a sweet-and-sour relationship like most siblings do. Sandra explained that Laila was most likely to start the fight. However, her kids balance each other. What a beautiful family!
