By the mid-1970s, he joined the Pure Prairie League band and his song "Let Me Love You Tonight" became a No. 1 country hit. In 1983, he became a solo artist, and his album "Turn Me Loose" won an award for Top New Male Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music.

HOW DID AMY GRANT AND VINCE GILL GET TOGETHER?
Grant and Vince got together over music. When she released her 1994 album "House of Love," he sang a duet for her. However, they met when they recorded a video for the song, and there was an instant attraction. She said:
"I was so moved by him as a human being that I went up behind him and just hugged him as hard as I could while he was singing. I just said, 'I just needed to hug you all night.'"
However, even though the feeling was mutual, they were married to different people and feared disappointing their fans.
In 1997, Vince's wife filed for divorce, but they remained married until 1999 when she filed for divorce from Chapman. Their newfound freedom meant they could pursue their love, and they married in 2000.
In 2021, as Vince and Grant prepared for their "Christmas at the Ryman" residency, she revealed that she loves doing all those shows with her husband. She said:
"No kidding, I fall in love with him all over again every year, just how he plays, his wit."
