Liam Neeson and his wife Natasha Richardson were married for more than ten years, during which they became parents to two sons until her unexpected death in 2009. Afterward, the actor was left to raise the kids alone, taking on the role bravely.

At a time in Hollywood, Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson were the poster couple whose love story inspired everyone. Their inspiring love story started in 1993 on the Broadway production "Anna Christie," where they starred opposite each other.

Fans and critics widely praised Liam and Natasha's performances for the impeccable chemistry they showed in their roles. The duo even earned a Tony nomination for their performance.

However, the pair both felt it, with Liam confessing that he had never had that kind of explosive chemistry with anyone before. The actor also declared the pair had a free dance on stage every night, which undoubtedly added to their connection.

However, at the time, 40-year-old Liam was known as a ladies' man, and Natasha, then 29, was also married to producer Robert Fox. Luckily for the pair, Natasha's marriage to Robert was nearing its end, and Liam also realized how much he had fallen in love with her.

By 1994 after the actress had ended her marriage to Robert, she and Liam exchanged marital vows on a farm in upstate New York.

Months after getting married, the lovebirds quickly added to their family, welcoming a child son Micheal in 1995. Just 18 months later, their second child, son Daniel, was also born.

However, after more than a decade of marital bliss, tragedy struck the family in 2009 when Natasha had a bad fall while skiing in Quebec. What the 45 years old actress initially thought was just a minor bump to the head was, in fact, a life-threatening brain injury.

Liam, who was on the set of the movie "Chloe" in Toronto, immediately rushed to be with his wife at the hospital a few hours after the fall. However, after arriving, he received the heartbreaking news that his wife was brain dead and the tragic realization that he would lose her.

Natasha died shortly after, but three of her organs were donated to help keep three other people alive. Seven years after her death, Liam took to social media to remember his late wife and mother of his children.

In his post, the actor noted how losing someone you love is the hardest thing in the world, and although his wife died unexpectedly, she brought him so much joy and was his everything.

Liam also stated that the 16 years of their marriage taught him how to love unconditionally and that people need to be thankful for their spouses because one day, they might not be there anymore.

LIAM'S KIDS HAD HELP COPING WITH THEIR MOTHER'S DEATH

The couple's first child, Micheal, disclosed that family and friends quickly came around to support the family after they lost their mother.

One of such people was U2 frontman Bono, who revealed he also lost his mother at a young age. His admission and recognition of the children's pain were very touching.

Also, their father took his sons to visit Ireland at least once a year to expose them to the troubles he faced growing up.

Micheal disclosed that a car blowing while his father walked to school as a youngster was not strange, and as he grew older, he realized that even though they are blood, the kids and their father had varying childhood experiences.

Although Liam watches his sons grow, flex muscles, and explore dangerous avenues, he often wishes their mother was alive to share the experience with him. Also, every parent he spoke to talked about their fears of their kids getting addicted to drugs.

The actor noted that drugs are like a virus and that once teenagers get a taste for them, they can become so addicted that it would change their lives and family forever.

Liam confessed that was his constant worry; however, he trusts his kids because they are sensible boys. The actor also felt very proud of his sons, noting that they knew he would always be there for them no matter what.

He further disclosed that manners were an introductory lesson he and Natasha wanted to teach them, and people coming up to him to laud how polite and well-mannered the kids are, makes him proud.

Meanwhile, the actor declared that his motto in life is part of a more extended quote which reads:

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."

Also, after his wife's death, the kids received great help from their maternal grandmother, actress Vanessa Redgrave who helped deal with the loss.

She became a mother figure who helped look after Micheal and Daniel, and the former once confessed:

"I can talk to her about anything, and I'll go and ask her for woman advice. Not to sound cheesy, but she's a beautiful person."

As an adult, Micheal dropped his father's name and took his mother's, officially becoming Micheal Richardson. He wanted to hold his mother close to him because she was a fantastic actress during her lifetime.

Micheal also followed in his parent's footsteps pursuing a career in Hollywood, although his father was initially against it.

Liam wanted his son to pursue any other career apart from acting, and although Micheal tried fashion for a while, he soon found himself back in the movie industry.

He made his movie debut in 2013's "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" and has also starred in "Vox Lux," "Broken Symphony," "Paradise," and "Big Dogs."

Meanwhile, the younger son Daniel also tried the entertainment route, studying acting and digital media at Tulane University.

After working behind the scenes a few times producing movies, he switched to fashion, launching his eco-friendly clothing line "Pine Outfitters" in 2017.

However, according to Daniel, fashion was the last thing he felt he would get involved in because he was an athlete and loved to play sports.

His dream was to be a producer in Hollywood or a sports player; however, now that he has his clothing line, Daniel's goal is to deliver a classy style of clothing to his customers.
