The passing of Queen Elizabeth II has left a massive hole in not only her four children but her eight grandchildren, who were fond of her. During the last months of her life, the royal matriarch was close with two of her youngest grandkids, Lady Louise and Viscount James, who do not have royal titles.

Queen Elizabeth II's grandchildren attended a service honoring her on September 14, 2022, held at Westminster Hall.

The longest-reigning monarch passed away on September 8, 2022, at age 96. Her Majesty died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where she usually spent her annual holiday.

The Queen's grandkids, Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, and James Viscount Severn, were present to pay their last respects to the royal matriarch.

The Royal Family Channel posted a video on YouTube of the royal sisters making their way into Buckingham Palace in separate Range Rovers while seated in the front. At the same time, their spouses sat in the backseats.

Royal correspondent Charlie Proctor revealed on Twitter that Princess Margaret's two children – Lady Sarah Chatto and Earl Snowdon, would also receive the Queen's coffin at Buckingham Palace alongside her children, grandchildren, and their spouses.

On September 14, 2022, Tatler Magazine tweeted that Her Majesty's youngest grandchildren, "Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn joined the throngs of mourners at Westminster Hall this afternoon."

During the service, the grandchildren could not hold back their emotions as they appeared to tear up. Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, who was photographed standing beside his wife, Meghan Markle, seemed to wipe away tears with his head bowed.

Her youngest cousin, Lady Louise, who stood next to her brother, with Princess Beatrice on the far left, was also photographed as she wiped her eyes. The Queen's eldest granddaughter, Tindall, seemed tearful while standing outside the gates of Balmoral Castle on September 10, 2022.

The Queen formed a close bond with her grandchildren and made a long-lasting impact on their lives. They all have memories with her as they bonded with her differently.

The Queen's Strong Bond with Her Grandchildren

Per E! Online, Prince William told Katie Couric in 2012 that the monarch was a "good listener," adding she would lend a helping hand wherever she could:

"She listens. She's a very good listener, so if you ever have problems, you can share them with her, and she will listen and try to help."

That said, the Prince of Wales explained that although the Queen was there to help, she also embraced the fact that each one was on their own journey.

Per Harper's Bazaar, that point was proven when Her Majesty told her grandson, Prince Harry, that she "would always support him" no matter what direction he decided to take after stepping down as a senior royal member.

The Queen also had a special relationship with Princess Beatrice. She supported her during her wedding preparations with Mapelli Mozzi, whom the princess wed in July 2020 at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

The monarch allowed the Princess of York to wear the Queen Mary fringe tiara, which she also wore at her wedding – and Beatrice repurposed a gown the sovereign wore in the 1950s to wear as a wedding dress.

When Princess Beatrice gave birth to her first child, a daughter, she named her after Her Majesty, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi. Sienna was born in September 2021.

An insider previously told People that the princess talked a lot about her grandmother and that their bond was undeniable.

In addition, among the eight grandkids, the Queen reportedly had her favorite, and it is Lady Louise, followed closely by her brother, James Viscount.

The royal siblings spent a lot of time with the monarch at Balmoral Castle, where the royal matriarch died. Per Express, a source revealed to The Sun in 2019 that the Queen loved that the brother and sister duo enjoyed their time at Balmoral.

According to The Mirror, Lady Louise made a public appearance in 2021 to commemorate her late grandfather Prince Philip in a BBC documentary.

She spoke about how the Duke of Edinburgh inspired her, sharing that he taught her how to drive, which was delightful:

"It's incredible to have learned first-hand from him and definitely made us closer, I think."

The young royal's grandmother had been generous too when she offered royal titles to her eldest grandchildren.

Why Peter Phillips & Zara Tindall Don't Have Royal Titles

The Queen's eldest grandchild is Peter, who, unlike some of the Royal Family members, is less popular. He is the son of Princess Anne and her former husband, Mark Phillips.

While the royal's younger cousins have titles, he does not have one. Peter was born in November 1977, and at the time of his birth, he was fifth in line to the throne. Still, he did not receive his birthright title.

Per Express, sons of the monarch's children are given titles, meaning Peter was not automatically eligible for a title. However, his grandmother made an exception to this rule when she offered his father, Mark, a title upon his marriage to Princess Anne, but he refused it.

The same instance occurred when the Queen reportedly offered Peter a title, but his parents turned down the offer. Moreover, Princess Anne also refused for her daughter Tindall to have a title.

Princess Anne shared her reasons for turning down titles for her children during an interview with Vanity Fair once, saying it was the best decision for them:

"I think it was probably easier for them, and I think most people would argue that there are downsides to having titles."

Out of the Queen's eight grandchildren, only four have HRH titles. Prince Edward, the monarch's youngest child, also refused to use Prince and Princess titles for his brood.

The Earl of Wessex and his wife, Sophia, Countess of Wessex, have previously expressed the need to provide their two children some normality. Hence, their daughter is Lady Louise Windsor, and their son is James, Viscount Severn.
