On June 22, 2013, George Lucas married the American businesswoman Mellody Hobson despite their age difference of over two decades. They tied the knot after dating for about seven years and getting engaged in January 2013.

Their wedding, with legendary guests like Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Robert De Niro, Harrison Ford, and more, took place against the backdrop of his Skywalker Ranch in California.

Mellody was a stunning bride who dazzled their guests with her fairytale off-the-shoulder intricately beaded dress by Peter Soronen. Star Wars director Ron Howard revealed that the profound ceremony was a joy to behold.

While other celebrities could not attend, they sent congratulatory messages on social media. Barely two months after their wedding, the couple welcomed their daughter, Everett Hobson Lucas.

George Lucas Shows off His Baby Daughter Everest

After George and Mellody Hobson welcomed Everest, they kept her out of the spotlight for nearly five months before the public saw her as she went out with her family on 2014 New Year's Day in Saint Barthelemy, France.

Everest, who joined the Lucas family on August 9, 2013, was heading out for a boat ride with her parents as they secured a life jacket on her.

Before her parents tied the knot, they revealed that they had no expectations of what a partnership should be because they were extraordinarily open-minded, and that helped their relationship.

Despite his earlier failed relationships and having to run a successful movie empire, the "Star Wars" director cares about his children and is fiercely devoted to them.

George's ability to look at the world like a child and his fascination with children helped him create the "Star Wars" movie universe that fans love.

Being a single parent also helped the film director appreciate the single mothers put into raising their kids, as he called them the real heroes. He said:

"Children are the whole point of life. Even as I was getting divorced, I decided that taking care of the kids was the most important thing I could do."

He knew that to undertake such a task, he would need to open himself up to it, and he was ready and did not think there were greater spiritual joys than raising his kids.

However, since he was already 40 and successful, he was at an advantage as he could enjoy the pleasures of children without having too many things to worry about.

George further revealed in an interview that holding his 10-hour-old first daughter was a moment he would never forget. He felt like he had been struck by lightning as joy radiated his being.

The film director said movies were his top priority before he started having children. Once his family grew, his love for movies became second. His desire to nurture began to complement the desire to overcome and dominate.

The film director attended Modesto Junior College before attending film school at the University of Southern California, where he made several short films and received a scholarship from Warner Brothers.

Through the scholarship, he met and became friends with Francis Ford Coppola. Shortly after graduation in 1971, he founded his film and television production company Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC.

Two years later, George won a Golden Globe for the coming-of-age comedy-drama "American Graffiti," which he directed and had Francis produce.

His success helped him birth the "Star Wars" universe in 1977. The film director founded many more companies to produce what he needed for his movies. Some of the companies include Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound.

After writing "Star Wars," George could not get most studios to give him a chance. When 20th Century Fox looked his way, he decided to forego his salary as a director but struck a bargain to get all merchandising rights and 40 percent box-office take.

His bargain became a good deal as the movie broke box office records. He worked with great minds like Steven Spielberg in record-breaking films such as "Indiana Jones."

George sold his company, Lucasfilm Ltd. LLC, to Disney in 2012 and made co-chair Kathleen Kennedy president in a bid to retire.
