‘Go Home to Your Barn!’ Rich Woman Fires Poor Maid Not Knowing They Would Switch Places Next Day — Story of the Day
A rich haughty woman fires her maid because the poor woman is all over the place trying to manage everything. Little does the rich sweetheart know what awaits her the next day.
Brenda was not your typical hard-working American woman. She neither worried about juggling house chores and her job nor about looking after her kids. Because Brenda NEVER needed to work.
Her husband was a rich businessman, which saved her from the hassle of looking for a job. As far as the house chores were concerned, she didn't have to worry about them because Pamela was always there for her.
65-year-old Pamela worked as a maid in Brenda's house. She was in charge of everything, from cleaning to cooking to laundry to picking up Brenda's children from school.
Thanks to Pamela, everything was taken cared of around Brenda's house, and Brenda didn't even have to lift her finger. But one day, the unthinkable happened, and Brenda found herself in hot water…

"JESUS CHRIST!" screamed Brenda, and Pamela shuddered. "I'm truly sorry, Mrs. Wells. I didn't do it on purpose. I'm so sorry..."
"Are you out of your bloody mind, Pamela? Did you just burn my dress? Do you even know how much it costs? Even your annual salary won't cover it, you fool!"
"I - I will get it fixed, ma'am," Pamela said, her voice shaking with fear. "I just…"
You can't avoid karma; it comes back to bite you.
"Get it fixed, my foot! Out! Get out!"
"Mrs. Wells…" Pamela begged. "I - I still have to iron Mr. Wells' clothes."
"THERE'S NO NEED FOR THAT!" Brenda said, giving her a sharp look. "If you make another mistake, you'll be fired! Do you understand? OUT!"

In tears, Pamela disappeared to the kitchen and started making breakfast. But her day had only started getting worse.
That morning, she burned the toast and omelet for breakfast and spilled the whole milk carton on the kitchen floor. Before she could clean it, Brenda appeared, and Pamela knew she was in BIG trouble.
"I'll make a fresh batch right now," she said, avoiding Brenda's gaze and returning to her work. Thankfully, the breakfast was made peacefully. But while mopping the floor, Pamela accidentally kicked the bucket of water on the floor, causing Brenda to slip and fall. That was the last straw for Brenda.
"GET LOST!" she yelled. "DID YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID? I don't want to see you around!"
"Mrs. Wells, I am so sorry." Pamela offered Brenda her hand to help her get up, but the rich woman yanked it away.
"Don't you dare touch me! OUT!"

"Please, Mrs. Wells... My mother is ill, and I need the money to pay for her treatment... She is all alone on the farm... Except for me, she has no one!"
"THEN GO HOME TO YOUR BARN! AND DON'T EVER SHOW ME YOUR FACE AGAIN!" yelled Brenda. "Get the hell out of my house! YOU'RE FIRED!"
Pamela begged Brenda to give her another chance, but Brenda wouldn't listen. She was sure she had done the right thing and that Pamela deserved the treatment after causing so much chaos in just one day. She had no idea she'd end up swapping places with her the next day.
That night, when her husband came home, Brenda told him she'd fired Pamela. Jack was furious.
"Then who's going to look after the house?"

"Well, we'll have to find someone else," Brenda said bluntly.
"You can't find someone so soon, Brenda! Are you serious?"
"It's not like she was helping us a lot, Jack! Didn't you see how she messed up today?"
"Fine then," said Jack. "Do everything on your own!"
That's when it dawned on Brenda that she'd cut the tree branch she was sitting on. Now that Pamela was fired, she would have to do everything on her own. How would she do it? She hadn't even lifted a spoon to clean in years. Pamela had always been there to look after the house!
The following day, when Brenda took charge of the house, she realized how tough the housework was. She messed up even worse than Pamela and couldn't even make a proper toast! And with the back pain she'd gotten the day before from slipping on the water, things only got worse.

Exhausted and desperate, Brenda called Pamela before noon and begged her to return.
"Look, I know I was rude yesterday, Pamela," she admitted over the phone. "Please come back. This house needs you. We need you."
"I'll be right there, Mrs. Wells," replied Pamela. "I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. I should've been more careful."
"No, Pamela, I am sorry," said Brenda apologetically. "I should have been more considerate. I'll wait for you."
That day, Pamela came to Brenda's house and Brenda said she was increasing her salary twofold. She also apologized to Pamela and offered to help with her mother's treatment.

"Oh, that is really generous of you, Mrs. Wells!" cried Pamela. "Thank you!"
Brenda had a change of heart as a result of that incident, and she learned to respect people regardless of their status or background.
