Marie Osmond Naps on Late Son's Sofa after Moving to Old Home with Spouse Who Put 'Pieces' Back Together
Marie Osmond lost her son to suicide at 18, and her true love, Steve Craig, was there to support her. The duo secretly started dating before remarrying 25 years after their divorce, and he became a devoted stepfather to her children. The couple has since moved to Marie's old home where she could mourn her late son and have a calming time with her beloved spouse.
In the 1980s, Marie Osmond and Steve Craig fell in love, and in 1982 they tied the knot. The following year, the production designer and the former "The Talk" host welcomed Stephen, their only child, and son.
Sadly, after three years of marriage, the couple divorced in 1985, and Marie moved on by marrying her second husband, Brian Blosil, in 1986. During her second marriage, the singer welcomed seven children Jessica, Rachael, Brandon, Brianna, Matthew, Abigail, and Michael.

However, after almost 20 years of marriage, in 2007, the "Read My Lips" songstress and Brian concluded their union. In the book, "Behind the Smile: My Journey out of Postpartum Depression," Marie shared her unique experience with her children.
She noted how she felt the presence of her children before they became a part of her life. The star revealed that her feelings for her adopted children were the same as the ones for her biological ones.

When asked which of her children was adopted, the songstress said she didn't recall because there wasn't a difference. The loving mother told her children that she might make mistakes and hoped they forgave her for it, adding:
"I will probably never be the perfect mother, but I will always have a perfect love for you."

In her book, "Might as Well Laugh About it Now," the "Dancing With the Stars (DWTS)" alum said she had "endless devotion" to the eight people she loved more than words could ever express - her children. She described her children as the "daily joy" of her life.
Marie also noted how her offspring were a source of joy, tears, aha moments, inspiration, and laughter. She shared how her brood gave her things to ponder and write about before describing them as her world.
Besides being a mother, Marie was also a woman who was destined to find love again. The singer's bond with her first husband pushed them back together later in life when she suffered a great tragedy.
Marie Found Love Again after Losing Someone near and Dear
After Marie suffered heartbreak because of her second divorce, she still had the many beautiful children she loved. The vocalist's sadness turned around in 2009 when she found her way back to her first ex-husband.

Steve and the star dated for almost two years in secret before remarrying in 2011. That same year, the singer spoke to ABC News about why she'd kept their relationship a secret, stating:
"I didn't want anybody to get hurt, you know, if it didn't work out. And gosh, it just worked out."

When speaking about how Steve affected her life after her marriage to Brian failed, Marie said her first ex-husband took her "life from crazy and hectic and sad and discombobulated." She described her marriage to her second ex-husband as "tough" and shared how Steve had put all the pieces back together.
Before marrying Steve again, Marie and her children left Utah in 2008 and the home she'd shared with Brian. They relocated to Las Vegas as the musician's career was revived by her appearance on DWTS the previous year.
The move was also a fresh start for Michael, who'd gone to rehabilitation in 2007 for substance abuse. According to the television personality's older brother, Donny Osmond, she had been dealing with her son's issues for quite some time.
During the year of their move, Michael seemed to be doing better. In Marie's book, "Might As Well Laugh About It," she pridefully shared how the high school senior "had been accepted into a performing arts program for high school students."

The talented musician enrolled in Los Angeles' Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. His friend said he loved the new city and was happy, while his mother was also pleased.
In a tweet, Marie revealed how proud she was of Michael and how he'd taken charge of his future. The changes he'd made in his life included legally changing his last name from Blosil to Bryan.
The teenager had been estranged from Brian, a music producer, and they hadn't spoken for months when the boy died by suicide at his downtown Los Angeles apartment at 18 in 2010. The tragedy left Marie "absolutely devastated" as she'd often visited Michael in Los Angeles.
The star's DWTS dance partner, Jonathan Roberts, recalled Michael's mother visiting him when he was in rehabilitation. He also shared how they'd stop dance lessons so Marie could call her son.

Roberts described the singer as someone who always made time for her children and a "good mother." A family friend revealed how the artist, who had Steve's support during that time, had known her son was in trouble but never expected what he did.
Michael's roommates and friends said he'd been sober and clean when he died. TMZ sources also claimed the friends and roommates told the police that he'd tried suicide before and had been struggling recently.
Donny urged fans to pray for his sister and their family during that difficult time. A note that Michael left said he'd made the difficult choice because he couldn't live with the severe depression he had that left him feeling like he didn't have friends and wasn't fitting in, with Entertainment Tonight (ET) stating:
"His mother Marie, who helped him fight the condition throughout his life, is devastated by the loss."
Fortunately for Marie, she had her religion to pull her through the tragedy. She also had something to celebrate when she and Steve took their rekindled relationship to the next level.
Finding Support from Steve and Gaining a Stepfather for Her Children
The "Donny & Marie" star once credited her faith for helping her cope with some of the most challenging moments of her life and her second marriage to Steve. They tied the knot on May 4, 2011, Michael and Olive Osmond's birthdate.
Olive was the "Paper Roses" songstress's late mother. During a previous Closer Weekly interview, Marie explained that she'd chosen the date because she wanted her late son and mother "to be there for the wedding [in spirit]."
Steve became a stepfather to his wife's seven children, and she once shared that he was a great father to all of them. The singer said she'd never find anyone who she could respect or love more than him, adding:
"I am so happy and look forward to sharing my life with Stephen, who is an amazing man as well as a great father to my children."
The couple's Las Vegas marriage happened almost 30 years after their initial divorce! Marie said she was happy and looking to share her life with the former basketball player, who she described as an amazing man.
Their private wedding ceremony was held at the Las Vegas Mormon Temple, while their reception was celebrated at their Nevada home. The vocalist wore the same Ret Turner wedding gown she'd worn the first time she married Steve.

In an ET interview, Donny said his sister and Steve were "right for each other" and noted how Marie was "so happy." Years later, the happy couple relocated back to the house the singer had shared with Brian.
Relocating Back to Utah to Spend Years Happy and Calm
In January 2021, Marie shared how she and her husband had "spent so much time together" that it felt like they were making up for the 25 years they were apart. She gave an example of the progress they'd made since getting married, saying:
"We went to L.A., and we sold my house there, and it was just the two of us packing it up. We loved it."
Steve's wife revealed how she felt a sense of realization while packing up her house. The star became aware that she had things that needed letting go, including the distractions that weren't necessary for her life, and she also recognized the things that mattered the most.
The couple has also been adjusting to life without their children. In early 2021, their brood was all grown up with Stephen, aged 37; Jessica, 33; Rachael, 31; Brandon, 24; Brianna, 23; Matthew, 21; Abigail, 18.
The empty nesters were utterly alone for the first time. By October 2022, the "Goin' Coconuts" actress had given her social media fans more glimpses of her Utah home, which featured an elegant kitchen and gorgeous hardwood floors.
Her home also had an unbelievable view of the mountains. Marie explained that each house she'd ever owned had what she described as "My place, my space," while once talking about her craft room.
The room was where she did craft work, painted, read, and built good memories. Against the wall of the craft room was a stunning white couch that the singer had picked out with the late Michael, with her stating while tearing up:
"This is Mike's couch. This is the one thing I wanted. This is the last thing we bought together."
The star revealed that the couch was where she would take her naps because it was comforting. She could recall when she and Michael went to buy it and how much he'd loved the sofa.
Marie explained how those were the kinds of things that meant a lot to mothers. Besides the craft room, her Utah estate also boasted a home theater, a recreational room, an island in the middle of her outdoor swimming pool, and a sauna!
The singer's kitchen was fitted with dark wood cabinets and a large matching table. Marie and her husband could relax in the living room, which featured an oversized centerpiece couch and other chairs and furniture.
The star's favorite area was the main bedroom which boasted a king-sized bed. She also had a home office with flower arrangements and lots of bookshelves, and her backyard had a stone walkway leading to a patio and lounge area.

The mansion was luxurious and grand, and it made sense why she and Steve had chosen to leave Los Angeles to distance themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic socially. The vocalist said she and her husband came back to their home.
In March 2020, when she was still a part of "The Talk," Steve's wife said they enjoyed having time to connect at the estate. She noted how they'd remarried after being apart for around 25 years, and then suddenly, they were alone!
The estate was built in an exclusive area that afforded Marie [Osmond] and Steve [Craig] lots of privacy.
Marie shared how it was the first time they got to be alone since she could remember. During the pandemic's lockdown, the musician kept track of her children with family group texts.
When messages came in, the star was happy and would sit and read the "beautiful" texts. She said it was great seeing the siblings get closer than ever!
In 2020, she told Digital Journal that the best advice she'd ever received was a message that felt appropriate during the COVID-19 quarantine. She revealed it came from her father, who always told her and her siblings:
"'The most important work you will ever do is within the walls of your own home.'"
Marie said she loved what she did and was grateful to have continued working from the safety of her home. However, the work she put into herself and her family was what always brought her the most joy!
She said it felt especially true during the pandemic. According to Urban Platter's September 2022 article, the star's Orem home was located in the northern part of Utah County, around 45 miles south of Salt Lake City.
The publication claimed that most residents were religious. The property was built in 1996 with carpet, tiles, and hardwood for the flooring, and the exterior of the two-story mansion was constructed with bricks.
It featured a basement, an attached garage, a carport, a small garden, and a fireplace. The estate was built in an exclusive area that afforded Marie and Steve lots of privacy.
