Texas Boy Dies Together with Mom and Grandma on Their Way to Family Dinner: 'You Guys Were Inseparable'
A family from Texas was headed to enjoy a lovely evening with their loved ones when their plans were interrupted by fate's cruel intervention. What was supposed to be a joyous and heartwarming day took an unexpectedly tragic turn that nobody saw coming.
On the night of Saturday, October 15, 2022, a family from Texas was on the road, hoping to make it to a family dinner in time and enjoy a fun-filled evening with their loved ones.
The family members included Karen Felder, her older brother, Harry, her sister, Michelle, her daughter Jessica Mitchell, and a young boy, Mason, who was Felder's grandchild and Mitchell's son.
Headed to a Family Evening
However, the family of five never made it to their family dinner due to an unexpected and incredibly gut-wrenching incident.
Meagan Raquel Jones said she was still taken aback and couldn't process the tragic news.
The Unfortunate Incident
On their way, Felder and her loved ones met with a tragic accident. According to the police, the family's vehicle was hit in Pearland, Texas, and sadly, four members succumbed to their fatal wounds.
The driver who hit their car was said to have suffered a medical emergency that led to the deadly crash. He also died in the accident. Police said two other occupants were in the car, but both are expected to get better.
News outlets, such as KHOU 11 and 10 Tampa Bay, covered the heart-shattering story, with the latter saying:
"REST IN PEACE. Karen Felder, her brother, daughter and grandson were on their way to dinner when they were hit and killed in Pearland, Texas by a driver who police said had a medical emergency."
A Lifelong Friend
A family friend, Russell Hasker, said Felder and the others were driving to Cracker Barrel to attend a dinner with their loved ones when everything changed in an instant. He said Felder was his lifelong friend and the "sweetest woman you'll ever meet."
Hasker recalled he last saw Felder at a funeral for another Sterling High School classmate earlier in the afternoon on Saturday, the 15th. Sadly, hours later, she left for her final abode. He added:
"Nobody was able to talk about it. It happened so fast, so it's been tough on everybody."
A Beautiful Family
The accident turned out to be a heartrending tragedy, resulting in the loss of four family members, including Felder's older brother, also known as Bubba, and her daughter, lovingly referred to as Jess. Hasker shared:
"They were always going off somewhere together ... that's how close they were."
The Only Survivor
The only survivor of the accident is Felder's sister, Michelle, who is recovering in the hospital. Hasker said it was devastating to see an entire family suffering from the crash.
He and other Sterling High School alums have joined hands to help support the bereaved family in their time of need. Hasker said he would always treasure the fond memories, including the last Rockets game he attended with Felder months before the tragedy.

Many relatives and friends remembered the crash victims, reminiscing about their time together. Kevin D. Boudreaux said the shocking news crushed him. He wrote:
"
but now it has total new meaning (sic)!!"
Broken Beyond Repair
Walter J. Hull II from the Dream Academy Houston Village said the community was heartbroken and devastated to learn of the passing of Felder and her family members. Hull II also said:
"May we continue to be in relationship with each other and remember the joy each of them has brought to our lives. The sun will shine a bit brighter tomorrow (sic)."
A Special Connection
A family friend, Meagan Raquel Jones, said she was still taken aback and couldn't process the tragic news. Of the profound connection between Felder and her grandson, Mason, she wrote:
"You guys were inseparable!!!! It's only God that you all are transitioning together (sic)."
"May peace and comfort be with your surviving family Jess Mitchell. I will never forget the jokes, laughs, and constant motivation," added Jones.
Practically Inseparable

"The three of you were inseparable. God had to have known it couldn't be one without the other."
