Caterina told People she was in love with her newborn after Eliza's birth. The first-time mom also expressed her gratitude for "this beautiful miracle." The actress shared the news that she was about to become a mom in February 2012. Eliza's mother often shares cute snaps of Eliza and her other kids on Instagram, and the family enjoys spending time together.

During an interview with Parents in 2021, Caterina revealed her children's interests, and one interesting fact she shared about Eliza was that she loves "Minecraft." The youngster also loves animals and has taken up horseback riding. Eliza also enjoys reading at night, and some of the books she has read include "Harry Potter" and "Dog Man" series.

When Eliza turned nine, her mom opened a bank account for her, where she saved her allowance. She has also developed an interest in starting a business and selling vegetables from their garden. Caterina said they had some of their "best conversations" in the car when she took Eliza for riding lessons.

Paloma Giles

Paloma Giles is the star's second child and another one of Caterina Scorsone's daughters. Paloma's mother announced her arrival by sharing a photo of her tiny hand on Twitter on November 8, 2016. She wrote her daughter's full name, Paloma Michaela Giles, in the tweet.

Caterina opened up in 2019 about how she explained Paloma's Down syndrome diagnosis to Eliza. During an interview for the Motherly podcast, she said she told Eliza that Paloma, who they fondly call Pippa, "was going to be a baby for a little bit longer." Eliza thinks her sister is lucky because "she still gets to be carried." She also said her daughters had a "really typical sibling relationship."

In the podcast, Caterina also expressed how she had to re-examine her relationship with Eliza. Eliza's mom shared how she realized that she loved Eliza for her "external qualities," such as her beauty and how smart and funny she was. However, she has since changed to "loving people for... their essence."

Caterina wrote an emotional essay about Pippa in honor of Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October 2020. She partly wrote:

"My daughter Pippa has rainbow-colored eyes. The colors go the other way around, like an upside down rainbow. It starts with an indigo ring around her iris that gives way to a deep evergreen, which sparkles into hazel flecks that turn a sunset shade of golden orange near the center."

The loving mom further said, "The colors stand out, differentiated by the Brushfield spots, which come with the 47th chromosome that creates Down syndrome in a person's DNA. Pippa has Down syndrome. But Pippa isn't Down syndrome. Pippa is Pippa."

The 41-year-old again spoke about her daughter with People in 2020. She said Pippa was "perfect" and expressed her fears when she was born. She said all she knew about Down syndrome was that "people were afraid of it" so she thought she should be too. She explained:

"When my daughter Pippa was born, I was scared... I didn't know anything."

Pippa's interests include pretending to be a doctor and giving her mom a checkup. She also walks with her mother around their neighborhood and talks about her school and the flowers they see. Pippa also enjoys jumping on their trampoline and also reads and listens to music before doing meditation before bed.

She also spoke about her youngest's personality, describing her as "tough" and said she would have "a wicked sense of humor." The two also read stories in a rocking chair at night before bed.

Caterina Scorsone and the father of her children are no longer together after they tied the knot in 2009. The "Grey's Anatomy" actress filed for divorce from Rob Giles on May 8, 2020, when their daughter Lucky was just a few months old.

At the time, the former couple's reps told People in a joint statement that the two would "remain friends" and were planning on "co-parenting their children in a spirit of love." The pair split after being married for more than a decade.
