Texas Boy, 2, Dies after Crash with Mom and 5-Year-Old Sister – His Family Pleads for Help
A mother and her two kids drove in their car on an ordinary Friday. They never knew that one moment would soon change the rest of their lives, leaving them heartbroken and in desperate need of support.
Two-year-old Alyez Nappiar Flenoy was a bundle of joy. Like many children, the Wichita Falls, Texas boy had a bright future, and his mom likely couldn't wait to see him grow and flourish.
Angel Bell was a doting parent, and she adored both her children. She was fortunate to have Alyez and his five-year-old sister, Zanylah, the two most important things in her life. Angel had no idea that her world would be turned upside down suddenly and unfairly.
She Was a Proud Mother
Looking at Angel's Facebook page, it was clear how much her kids meant to her. She enjoyed showing the world their beautiful smiles and the precious memories they made together.
In a post on March 5, 2020, the proud mother shared her excitement for her son's birth, noting: "And then there were four. Baby boy due in September." She described her children as part of what made her heart whole and loved spending every day with them.
The three family members were rushed to the hospital. Alyez needed to be flown to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth—his condition was critical.
Their Van Had Mechanical Issues
Angel and her two kids were driving in their Dodge Caravan when they experienced suspected mechanical issues. The cautious mom pulled over in the eastbound lanes of Southwest Parkway to sort out the problems.
While their vehicle was standing still, a GMC Denali in the same lane crashed into the van. The 36-year-old male driver didn't see the vehicle and rear-ended Angel's van off the road.
The family's ordinary Friday morning on October 14, 2022, quickly turned into any parent's worst nightmare. The driver of the GMC did not sustain serious injuries, but Angel and her kids needed emergency medical attention.
The Heartbreaking Tragedy
The three family members were rushed to the hospital. Alyez needed to be flown to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth—his condition was critical. Late on Friday night, the news that nobody wanted to hear came.
Sgt. Charlie Eipper of the Wichita Falls Police Department confirmed the death of Alyez. Miraculously his sister and mom were recovering, but their hearts were shattered, and their lives irrevocably altered. On Facebook, the devastated mother wrote:
"I'll see you later, baby boy. You made us proud."
A Request for Assistance
Angel's sister, Rachael Atod, started a GoFundMe page on behalf of her grieving family. They needed all the support they could get, and her post noted:
"We were so tragically hit with this unexpected event. We are trying to raise money for [Alyez's] funeral expenses. Anything helps so much. We thank you all in advance, and God bless you all."
In Awe of the Public's Kindness
By October 21, more than $4,400 had been donated, along with many messages of sympathy and love. The grieving mom was in awe of the love and kindness from friends, family, and strangers. She said:
"Thank you to everyone who has shared, donated, prayed, and helped us in our son's transition of life. There are no words to express my gratitude for everyone's consideration and love. Thank you, truly."
Angel also extended an invitation to her son's memorial services on October 21 and 22, welcoming everyone who knew and loved Alyez. "We'd love to see anyone who is able to attend," the mother stated.
The Online Support
Netizens were heartbroken for the mother and her children. Not only did she endure a traumatic event, but she also lost one of her beloved babies. The online community offered their condolences and sent prayers up for them:
