The foundation continues the work and initiatives Cameron was involved in and honors his legacy. It also aims to raise awareness and money about epilepsy and Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). Maya said it became a "family passion project" to keep his legacy alive.

Maya wants to follow in her brother's footsteps and be charitable like him. She said the family's charity is a relief as they get to pay tribute to Cameron and do what they are passionate about.

Most of her family members are charitable, with her mother working with the homeless community in L.A. and her grandmother a civil rights activist.

Her brother Cameron supported various causes, which included gun violence prevention. Maya Boyce started her own charity work at a young age; as a child, she went to some of the shelters her mom worked with her brother.

According to Maya, Cameron always said everyone with a voice has "the privilege of using that voice for change." He knew he had many kids that looked up to him. She also said Cameron achieved a lot in his life as a charitable person who traveled worldwide and made "art his life's mission." Maya stated that others should remember Cameron for his optimism and further wrote:

"...Of course, I am devastated. I will be for the rest of my life... I spent 17 years knowing what it was like to be loved by Cameron Boyce. That is the most beautiful gift I have ever received."

Maya Boyce supports the Cameron Boyce Foundation and is a member of several charities, which she spoke about during her interview with Teen Vogue in August 2021. She's also part of other projects that were her brother's idea, such as the Thirst Project and Wielding Peace.

Wielding Peace is about kids holding artistic tools linked to what they are passionate about, like cameras, paintbrushes, and trombones, and "wielding it like a weapon." Maya said she's motivated by the new generation of youngsters "trying to change the direction of [gun violence]."

These projects mainly focus on epilepsy awareness and research. Maya revealed that when her brother died, not many people were aware he had epilepsy. They knew about his seizures but had never talked about epilepsy or heard of SUDEP. Maya shared that it was common, but there wasn't much research. She said it was "confusing and hurtful" for them and couldn't find many answers.

Cameron's former publicist, Kasey Kitchen, said Maya is a light and "driving force behind the heart of the foundation." She said Cameron was proud of his sister and had often expressed that she was strong and fierce. The Cameron Boyce Foundation held its first annual gala in 2022.

Maya Boyce Is Studying Theater Arts

Maya Boyce followed in her brother Cameron Boyce's footsteps. She decided to study contemporary theater in Boston. Maya said in 2021 that she wasn't sure if she would finish college as she wanted to do the right thing for herself. According to her LinkedIn profile, she worked as a teaching assistant at Northeastern University in Chicago.

Maya Boyce once shared that she had always planned to act after college. Cameron Boyce's sister said she and her brother decided on their own to perform. She hopes to act in a horror movie or on stage.

She appeared in the production "After the Fall," where she portrayed the character Maggie. The show was put on by her friends, who she says make her feel "inspired and motivated." According to the actress, her friends are making names for themselves in different creative fields.
