Katherine Heigl's Husband: The Actress Showed Interest in John Mayer Hoping It Would Get Josh Kelley to Commit
Josh Kelley caught the eye of "Grey's Anatomy" actress Katherine Heigl, the good old rock n roll way, by casting her in his music video. More than a decade later, the couple lives on a remote Utah ranch with their three kids.
At the tail end of the 2000s, Katherine Heigl had a four-year streak of romcoms, starting with "Knocked Up," "27 Dresses," "The Ugly Truth," and "Killers." While leading men broke her heart on the screen, she was building a life with her husband, Josh Kelley.
A love for crafting drew the duo together. During the pandemic, the country crooner built his wife a greenhouse. They enjoy foraging together and creating essential oils.

The musician contributed songs to soundtracks from his wife's films, "The Ugly Truth" and "Life As We Know It." He is the composer of her crime comedy with Patrick Wilson, "Home Sweet Hell," and made a cameo in "Jackie & Ryan."

How John Meyer Helped Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley Together
The "Firefly Lane" actress met Josh when she starred in the music video for his song "Only You." Recounting their courtship on "The Meredith Vieira Show," she said that he played hard to get, so she decided to give him a nudge.
Around the time they started dating, Heigl met John Mayer, with whom she shared mutual friends. Mayer is a notorious womanizer, though she insists that their relationship was always platonic. She told Vieira how she leveraged a friendship to get her man:
"These musicians, they are competitive and jealous of each other. [So] over the phone, because he was on tour, I was like, 'Josh, I've got to be honest. I just want to know where we stand because if not, I might try to pursue something with John.'"

The actress told E! News she was ready for more kids, but "Josh is tapping out."
Before the big day, Josh told PEOPLE: "We're madly in love, and she makes me excited to become married and to have a family and spend my life with someone. We're fairly opposite, but we also share a lot of the same values."
Do Katherine and Josh Have Children?
Adoption was always part of the duo's family planning. According to PEOPLE, Katherine Heigl's older sister, Margaret Heigl-Beltran, was adopted from South Korea. The actress said it took her husband longer to warm to the idea but was the first to bond with their daughter:
"Anyone who doesn't have experience with adoption wonders, 'Does love for a child come through DNA?' I knew it didn't. They're yours. You love them the moment they're put into your arms. Josh had to learn that, but he was so gracious and accepting."
