With fashion from the 1990s dominating the streets, it is no surprise that some are taking the trend a little bit further. Singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers debuted her barbed-wire bicep tattoo, a la Jennifer Anderson, at an event in 2022.

Phoebe Bridgers sports many tattoos touching on the themes of friendship, pet ownership, and the love of her fans. There are no confirmed tattoos of the former lovers who inspired her Grammy-nominated music.

The singer has shared the meaning behind some of her exquisite body art. However, there are others, like the unclear peek-a-boo ribcage tattoo, that her fandom is left to decipher at their leisure.

The Mysterious Three Cups Tattooed on Phoebe Bridgers' Left Bicep

One of Bridgers' most prominent tattoos is three goblets, similar to the ones used in "Game of Thrones," on her left bicep. She has not explained its significance, and Popsugar speculates that the tattoo's meaning relates to "freedom," a concept linked with chalice cups.

Bridgers got a tattoo of a tooth on her inner wrists with her boygenius band mates.

The "I See You" crooner greeted fans with a "howdy" in a September 2021 post, giving them a good view of the boldly lined body art. A commenter wondered if it was the grails from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

How Phoebe Bridgers Keeps Her Dog Max Close to Her Heart

Bridgers bid farewell to her fur baby Max on February 7, 2019. The black pug with a white face had been with the singer since she was eight years old. Max was born in 2002 and was sixteen at the time of his death.

The songwriter penned "Me & My Dog" in 2018 for her supergroup, Boygenius, before her pooch passed. She said in an interview, "Max is the most pure thing I've ever felt anything about. It's like the death of innocence."

She immortalized her beloved pet a month later with his name embossed in a heart on her arm by tattoo artist Hannah Uribe. She showed off the tattoo with an unnamed friend who also got a tattoo of their late pet, Oscar, in March 2019.

Phoebe Bridgers Has a Matching Tattoo with Her Band

On an ink spree, Bridgers got a tattoo of a tooth on her inner wrists with her Boygenius bandmates Julien Rose Baker and Lucy Dacus from Evan Davis at Nashville's Black 13 Tattoo studio.

The social media post showing the artwork on April 9, 2019, did not give more context into the meaning of the work, but the veiled threat of matching lip tattoos is next for the trio.

Bridgers and Dacus' tattoos look newer in the picture than Baker's tooth, which is slighter larger, and shaded, from which one might infer she had the art done earlier. A Boston dentist, Dr. Derek Martin, gave his approval in the comment section.

A Fan-Inspired Phoebe Bridgers's Large Sword Tattoo

A fan rectified a snub Bridgers experienced from Ryan Adams with a gift of a note impaled by a sword in 2019. The unidentified fan's letter read in part:

“Phoebe, I hope you like this real, authentic sword. You don’t need it, but you deserve it. Thanks for sharing your sad songs with us.”

The "Kyoto" singer previously shared that Adams had given all the female crew members in his tour a sword on International Women's Day, except her. Tattoo artist Doctor Woo faithfully reproduced the gift on her right forearm.

Phoebe Bridgers's Latest Body Art Is a Classic

There has been a slew of '90s-themed art walking around on the bodies of Gen Zers and young Millenials, and Bridgers, along with Dua Lipa, is credited with making the wraparound barbed-wire bicep tattoo cool again.

The "Killer" singer returned to Doctor Woo for a barbed wire on her left bicep. The celebrity tattoo artist shared a photo of his "sharp to the touch" work for the songwriter on May 13, 2022.

However, by that time, her equally sharp fans had already noticed the delicately lined tattoo on Phoebe Bridgers at the Met Gala on May 2, 2022, in New York. Her beaded halterneck gown only accentuated her new body art.

Pamela Anderson got a boldly lined version of the barbed-wire tattoo for her title role in the 1996 sci-fi action movie, "Barb Wire." The tattoo is visible on the film's poster where the "Baywatch" actress poses with a gun.
