Fate brought Paris and her husband together after they had been the closest people for many years.
In November 2018, Paris Hilton finally publicly spoke about her separation from her fiancé, Chris Zylka. While on "The Talk," the star said she was doing well and spending time alone.
She explained that she felt when she fell in love, it happened hard and fast, becoming a whirlwind romance. Paris confessed that she'd imagined she would have a happy life with Zylka but realized after some time that it wasn't the right choice.

However, she had no bad feelings against her ex, wished him the best, and hoped she would marry and have children one day. At the time, Paris said she was content with focusing on her work and herself.
Zylka and the disc jockey (DJ) only dated for almost two years before ending things. Earlier in the month, an Us Weekly source revealed Paris had broken up with her fiancé a few weeks before and had since been in Australia and Dubai.

The insider claimed the star had realized their relationship wasn't meant to be and wasn't suitable for her. The couple allegedly had "some problems" during their relationship, and Paris was done.
After ending their relationship, Paris spent some time where she wasn't confident she'd find the "perfect match." The entrepreneur once said after breaking up with Zylka, she thought she would spend time alone forever and had given up, believing she didn't need anyone.

However, little did she know that fate was still on her side. The star wasn't aware that there was someone who had been close to her for over a decade who would swoop in and change her mind forever!
How Did Paris and Her Husband Come Together after Being Close for Years?
In September 2020, Paris revealed that she'd traveled 250 days annually for work before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, she was forced to stay at home during the height of it.

The best thing about that time was that she got to spend time with her pets and her boyfriend, whom she'd gotten close to. The star said the time they spent together was equivalent to five years!
Paris' new boyfriend was a family friend and a businessman named Carter Reum, and they began dating in November 2019. The DJ revealed she'd known him for 15 years, and when his sister invited her for Thanksgiving, she and Reum connected.

The pair had great chemistry, and after having their first date, they were never apart each night! The businesswoman admitted that she'd fallen in love and felt the partnership she had with Reum was the one she deserved after going through five "toxic" relationships.
Paris believed she hadn't been ready for love before but had always wanted a relationship like her parents. She said her parents were best friends, and her father was loyal, and she wanted that but was looking in the wrong places.
Ironically, Reum reminded her of her father, made her feel happy and safe, and was the right one! After striking up a romance in 2019, the couple got engaged and had two weddings, where they both cried while exchanging vows, in February and November 2021.
After having a three-day wedding celebration in Los Angeles, Paris revealed she couldn't wait to grow their family. The star shared how she felt she and Reum were like puzzle pieces that got connected, and she'd never thought she'd meet a man like him who loved her for who she was before adding:
"He's going to be the best husband — and the best dad."

Despite having thought she'd spend the rest of her life alone and focusing on her work, Paris was now looking at another upcoming milestone. The star made a difficult choice that had everything to do with her marriage.
Paris Is No Longer Focused on a Career for the Sake of Motherhood
In her documentary, "This Is Paris," Reum's wife had envisioned herself not stopping to work until she became a billionaire. However, by June 2021, her goals had changed, and she explained that she'd made them then because she wasn't happy.

Paris, 41 in November 2022, said she'd seen money as having independence and happiness without being controlled, and that's why it was the focus of her life. However, she was now so in love and happy in her life that she noted:
"I'm not really interested in billions anymore. I'm more interested in babies."

In November 2022, a year after the hotel heiress' wedding to Reum, her mother, Kathy Hilton, gave an update on the couple's goal to have children. "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star said the pair were extremely happy.
The duo celebrated their first anniversary at the carnival and hoped to make it an annual event. Kathy said her daughter and son-in-law were like children, and it was "really sweet."

Paris' mother revealed that she and Reum were trying for their first child. However, Kathy shared that "it breaks my heart because I know she is trying and trying, and I always say, 'Just relax.'"
The parent supported her child and told her many people went through the same thing. The reality television star informed the businesswoman that people struggled and pregnancy didn't always happen just like that.
