Are Spelling & McDermott Separating?
Rumors have been swirling about McDermott and Spelling's possible split. The pair have been disputing ongoing speculations that their marriage has been on the rocks since May 2021.
News of an alleged split came after Spelling removed the word "wife" from her Instagram bio. She fueled the gossip even more after publicly choosing not to mark the couple's 15th wedding anniversary.
Things escalated a month later when Spelling disclosed that she and McDermott had not been sleeping in the same room. A source revealed to Us Weekly in June 2021 that the pair had had trouble within their marriage for more than a year.
The insider added that the mere fact the "90210" alum had talked about sleeping in a different room than her spouse meant there was indeed trouble in paradise:
"The fact that she's talking about sleeping in separate beds is very telling. She wouldn't do that unless things were not great between them."
In June 2022, multiple sources provided an update about the couple's home situation. One source revealed McDermott and Spelling were on a "trial separation."
Another claimed the two had held off on filing for an actual divorce because "it would be costly." The second source explained the pair feel as though they cannot go through with the process due to having children together.

They want to avoid upsetting their brood, but at the same time, Spelling has long been dissatisfied with her marriage, said the insider:
"They truly are still together for their kids."
Meanwhile, McDermott has continued to shut down divorce rumors, saying all is well at home and they are having a blast. The "Pretty Hard Cases" star jokingly added that he is "off the market" for potential admirers.
What Kind of Parents Are McDermott & Spelling?
McDermott and Spelling share five children, Beau, Hattie, Finn, Liam, and Stella. The doting mom spoke about the couple's parenting experience in an interview with People in September 2022:
"Co-parenting, Dean and I definitely have different parenting strategies. I'm kind of the feelings, mom, and he's more procedural."
Spelling explained her husband has good "timing" and knows how to plan. On the other hand, she is incapable of that and noted that it is essential: "You need both of those to make it work. You need both worlds."
The mom of five decided to try a "different" approach with her offspring, and she came out of her shell. Spelling constantly checks in on her children and asks whether they are doing okay and if they want to talk about their issues.
In uniting the kids to ensure she gets to know how everyone is doing, she brings them together to partake in activities they enjoy and asks about the happenings in their lives. The family loves baking and cooking, not forgetting "DIY." Spelling shared that doing such with her children brings everyone joy.
She gets to have "many more answers" when asking them questions because of her approach. The "Slasher" star does not want her kids to feel like they are being independently interrogated by her and uses the home activities as a distraction.
