'She’s the Best Mom I Ever Had': 5-Year-Old Boy Gives Sweet Speech to Mom before Adoption

Before the judge announced the final decree at an adoption hearing, a five-year-old boy brought his mother to tears after he called her "the best mom" he's ever had.

Tears were shed at a New Mexico courtroom when five-year-old Cameron requested to say something on record. At the time, he was at his adoption hearing, where he and his mom were waiting for the judge's final decree.

Jennifer Hubby was set to legally adopt Cameron and was eager to get the proceedings over with. Before giving her final decree, the judge asked if they had anything to say for the record.

Jennifer was sitting beside Cameron when he looked at his mother and whispered, "Can I say something?" Jennifer admitted she said nothing out of the ordinary because she was too nervous to speak before Cameron suddenly asked the question. Then the boy gave the sweetest speech to his mother, declaring:

"I wanted to say that, I love my mom so much, and that she's the best mom I ever had, and I love her so much."

The whole thing was captured on video by Jennifer's best friend, Milly Davies, where the surprised mom is seen lowering her head at one point, in tears. Cameron himself was quite emotional as he and his mom exchanged glances and hugs.

The video soon went viral, with many people touched by the young boy's love for his mom. People on the internet congratulated the family, sending them their best wishes.

Upon hearing what Cameron had to say, Judge Cheryl H. Johnston, who was presiding over the case, responded to him by giving him some words of encouragement. She stressed the importance of telling people you love them, especially when they care about you. "That's what we're supposed to be doing," she said.

And so after a six-month process and years of planning, the adoption was finally made official.

After the touching moment, Cameron's adoption became official, and Jennifer became his legal mother. Even before the whole court case, however, Cameron already saw Jennifer as his mom and would call her "mama."

Cameron's biological mom and Jennifer's wife, Kim Hubby, was also present in court. The couple went through stepparent adoption so that Cameron was protected should anything happen to Kim.

Although Jennifer had always been in Cameron's life, being his mother legally would allow her to protect him no matter what happens. And so after a six-month process and years of planning, the adoption was finally made official.

The family wanted to go through the process years back, but because of their financial status, they were unable to do so. They noted how tedious it was to undergo the adoption process, as not only does it cost a lot of money, but it is also something that you must be ready to undergo physically, emotionally, and mentally.

Although Jennifer notes that their stepparent adoption was a straightforward process, there were still a lot of things they needed to prepare for, such as the background check, the conversations between parents, and the emotional and financial capacity of the entire family.

Kim and Jennifer worked together through the years to prepare themselves for the day they would finally process the adoption. And after working hard as a real estate agent, Jennifer was able to take the case to court.

It wasn't just the Hubby family that was overjoyed with Cameron's adoption. His kindergarten class made sure to celebrate the special day with him, too. On the day he went back to school, he was presented with a celebratory card his teachers and classmates signed.

Cameron's family is now enjoying a newfound peace in their home in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, knowing there are no longer any legal impediments to their being a family.
