68-Year-Old Nurse Gets Invitation to Be Bridesmaid of Girl She Looked after in Child Care — Story of the Day
After years of working as a nurse at a child care center, a woman received a wedding invite in her mail. When she opened it, she was shocked to see who it was from. "Oh my God! I had no idea you still remembered me," she said with tears in her eyes.
Becky was a single mother who loved being around children. The kind woman worked as a nurse in a local childcare center and raised her son alone.
One day, a new girl named Annabelle came to her childcare center, but none of the other kids liked her. Instead, they made fun of her because she had a dark birthmark on her forehead.

"Look at her!" the children would say. "She has a bug on her face!"
Whenever other kids would laugh at Annabelle, she would hide in Becky's nursing room. Becky often saw her sitting there and felt terrible for the little girl. She would hug Annabelle and tell her not to pay attention to the children's mean remarks.
The childcare center would host a mini celebration on Christmas Eve every year, where the children would dress up and perform on stage. This year, they hosted the same event and asked students to come prepared with their performances.
The nurses and other staff watched the children dance and sing and praised their performances. However, when it was time for Annabelle to perform, she was nowhere to be found.

"Where did she go?" the childcare center manager asked.
"I think I know where she might be," Becky said before she headed toward her nursing room.
When Becky opened the door, she saw Annabelle sitting in a corner with her face buried in her hands. "What happened, sweetheart? Why are you sitting here?" Becky asked.
"I don't want to go outside! Everyone makes fun of my birthmark," Annabelle cried.
"Oh, honey," Becky sighed. "Come here. I'll show you something."
Becky held Annabelle's hand and took her outside the building. "See these snowflakes?" Becky pointed towards the sky, "Look how beautiful they are."
Annabelle nodded and looked at the snowflakes falling from the sky on the cold winter evening. "Wow! They are so pretty!" she exclaimed.

"Just like these snowflakes, every child is unique and beautiful," Becky said. "No matter what people say, you are a gem, Annabelle. God made all of us beautiful, so you don't need to hide or feel embarrassed."
Annabelle smiled at Becky and went inside with her to watch other kids perform that evening. At that point, Becky had no idea that Annabelle's parents would soon shift her to another childcare center.
For the next few months, Becky stayed in touch with Annabelle. They exchanged mails and sometimes met at the childcare center, but they soon lost contact.
Becky continued to work as a nurse in the same childcare center until she retired. After retirement, she stayed at home while her son frequently visited her with his wife and daughter.
One day, Becky went outside to check her mailbox and found a wedding invite and a letter. Who sent this? she wondered before she read the sender's name.

Years after losing contact with Becky, Annabelle wanted her favorite nurse to be her bridesmaid. "Oh my God! She still remembers me," Becky said to herself.
A week later, Becky attended Annabelle's wedding as her bridesmaid. Her eyes filled with tears when she saw Annabelle dressed as a beautiful bride.
"You look beautiful, Annabelle!" Becky hugged her.
"Oh, Mrs. Becky! You're the best person I have ever met," Annabelle cried. "You always boosted my confidence and helped me overcome my complexes."
Becky felt emotional after watching Annabelle walk down the aisle and stand beside the love of her life. She had never expected Annabelle would remember her and ask her to be her bridesmaid.
