Fans of "Cheers," "Look Who's Talking," and "Madhouse" are still mourning the loss of one of Hollywood's best actresses, Kirstie Alley. She was a powerhouse in her own right, and fans were devastated by the news.
Alley passed away on the evening of Monday, December 5, 2022. Her children released a statement to share the tragic news with the world. Both her children loved their mother dearly and are mourning her loss.

Alley first rose to fame when she starred in "Cheers" in 1987. She received her first two awards, a Golden Globe and an Emmy, from her role on the show. Her second Emmy came from her role in 1994's "David's Mother."
She appeared in many more films and TV shows during her career and made a success of her acting career and her personal life as a mother. She chronicled her life in 2010's reality show "Kirstie Alley's Big Life."
Alley was beloved by many and even starred in 2022's season of "The Masked Singer," where she appeared to be in good health. However, just a few short months later, she tragically passed away at 71.
How Did Kirstie Alley Die?
On that Monday evening, Alley's two children shared the news that she had passed away on her Instagram page. They revealed that she had lost a battle with cancer which had only recently ensued.
Talking about what the day of her death was like, her children shared a few details about their mother's state of mind. They said:
"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead."
The post showed a photo of Alley on a bicycle, smiling at the camera. The accompanying caption talked about how grateful the family was to the team of doctors assisting Alley during her final days.

The children asked that the public give them privacy during this difficult time and said they were grateful to all of Alley's fans for the support and love they sent as the news of her death broke.
While she was a successful actress, Alley's children knew her simply as their mom and talked about what she was like as a mother. They shared:
"As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother."
The post was also shared on Alley's daughter, Lillie's Instagram page. She shared the exact same photo and caption, which were met with love and supportive words from family, friends, and fans of Alley.
Who Are Kirstie Alley's Kids
Alley has no biological children, but she and her ex-husband, Parker Stevenson, adopted two children while they were married. They welcomed William in 1992 and Lillie in 1995.
Alley often spoke about how much she adored being a mother and then said that becoming a grandmother was even more special. Alley loved motherhood very much and once said:
"My best quality is that I'm a good mother."
Stevenson and Alley divorced in 1997 and had no biological children together, although the actress did suffer a miscarriage in 1994, shortly before she and Stevenson adopted Lillie into the family.
In 2016, Alley's son welcomed his own son, and Alley shared that it felt blissful that she had a grandchild. She mentioned that the baby's name was Waylon Tripp Parker in a tweet where she also said it was happy news.
