"Dirty Jobs" host Mike Rowe has been on television since the 1990s, but despite being a public figure, very little is known about his personal life. There is no record of him ever being married or in a relationship. The 60-year-old television host has no kids either.

Mike was born to John and Peggy Rowe on March 18, 1962. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and attended Overlea High School, graduating in 1980. That was followed by a degree in communication studies at Towson University, after which he pursued a successful career in television as a host and narrator.

However, one person in Mike's life he shows off is his mother, Peggy Rowe. The mother and son duo are very close. Peggy is a renowned author whose books contain stories about people in her family, including some hilarious stories about her son and mother.

Mike Rowe Has Never Been Married

One of the more notable things about Mike is the lack of that special lady in his life -- besides his mother, of course. Throughout his long-lasting career in the public eye, the TV personality has never been confirmed to be in a

with anyone.

However, there have been a few instances of speculation about his romantic life. He has been linked to a few women, but those have remained just rumors.

Danielle Burgio was one of the women he has been said to be dating. Burgio is a famous Hollywood stuntwoman whose film list is nothing short of astonishing. She has been involved in blockbuster films such as "The Matrix" and "Sleepless -- starring Jamie Foxx -- and was Jennifer Garner's stunt double in "Daredevil."

Besides the over 20 Hollywood productions she has contributed to as a stunt woman, she has also had minor parts in both television and film productions, including two episodes on "24" and an appearance as a soccer mom in Zach Snyder's "Army of the Dead."

If there was ever anything between the two, it didn't quite work out, as the talented Burgio is currently wedded to Robert Merrill. One other woman that Mike has been linked with is Sandy Dotson. She is said to be an executive at a data management firm.

The speculation started after they were spotted vacationing together. In 2019, Mike said he was dating a lady from San Francisco. However, there was never any confirmation of who the woman was.

Mike Rowe Has No Children

The lack of a lady in his life has perhaps contributed to him not being a father. Nevertheless, lady or not, Mike has no desire to have children. He also admits that he has never found a compelling motive to have kids.

Although he is adamant that he has nothing against having kids, Mike has weighed the pros and cons of the matter carefully and concluded that he would not have children. He analyzed observations made on his friends' lives after they became parents.

Mike also believes that being a parent is easier said than done, and many people are not good enough to take up such a massive responsibility. He explained, "The most difficult task a human being can embark upon — the lifelong commitment of parenthood — requires no qualification whatsoever."

Mike's Mom Wrote a Book about Raising Her Sons

As if responding to her son's views that parenting was difficult, Mike's mother, Peggy Rowe, wrote a

detailing, among other things, her relationship with her son. The book, "About Your Father And Other Celebrities I Have Known," contains various stories, including the time before and after Mike became famous.

In one of the hilarious parts of the book, there is a description of how Peggy helped Mike's career by sending letters of praise for Mike to QVC to get him promoted. The letters were sent using different names and addresses to make it seem like they were coming from satisfied viewers.

In those days, Mike worked on a late-night program, but Peggy thought his talents were enough to get him a daytime slot. She was so determined to see her son succeed that she would wake up at 3 a.m. to watch her son on TV, make notes of his performance, and give him constructive advice.

Mike on His Mom's Book

Mike and his mother appear to have a strong bond. Peggy is very active in his life despite him turning 60 this year. Peggy is an avid writer and has several books under her name. She also has several articles published in newspapers and magazines.

Her books and articles detail things related to her, such as her mother or son's career. In the 2018 book, "About My Mother: True Stories of a Horse-Crazy Daughter and Her Baseball-Obsessed Mother: A Memoir," she talks about her mother, what she was like, and the times she spent with her.

During an interview with Fox, Mike talked about his mother's book,

, "I wasn't really surprised by anything in the book because I grew up with a front-row seat to my grandmother, who lived next door. The surprise for me is today, the fact that an 80-year-old woman decided she wanted to write a book. And did it. And it's terrific."

Mike added that his mother's goal is to honor the people in her family by writing stories that those willing to listen can enjoy and get a better understanding. Peggy concluded the interview by encouraging people to write stories about their lives rather than just talking about them.
