Who Is Laura Bargatze?
A Nashville native, Laura attended Middle Tennessee State University for four years and obtained her degree in Business Administration and Marketing. She gained over fifteen years of work experience in 2005 when she worked as a marketing coordinator for Applebees.
Two years later, Laura was a marketing assistant for an investment company in New York City before she used her business degree and became a business development events specialist for Kurtzman Carson Consultants.
In September 2019, Laura went into business with her husband when she became the executive producer of his podcast. Laura also became the talent manager at the couple's company, Bargatze Enterprises, in Nashville, Tennessee.
In 2012, a former colleague of Laura's, Sarah Frankel, sang the now self-employed MTSU-graduate's praises and recalled her experience working with Laura. Sarah said:
"I had the privilege of working directly with Laura Bargatze for two years. She is a task-oriented, quick worker with a creative mind and dedication to the job that ensures you will get great results with every project. Her positive attitude and appreciation for all make her a joy to be around."
Outside of work, Laura has a private Instagram account with over a hundred followers at the time of publication. Although her posts are reserved for her followers, she does feature on her husband's public Instagram page from time to time.
Nate and Laura Were Colleagues before They Started Dating
Laura and her husband began their relationship as friends; they worked together at Applebees when he was in his early twenties, long before his comedy career took off. At the time, her husband was a host, and she was a server.
Humor infused their relationship, with Laura playfully teasing him about his ambitions. During a comedy show, he shared a joke about someone questioning if they foresaw their future during their early dating days. Laura quipped, "When I met him, he was a host, and I didn't think he was smart enough to be a server."
Fortunately, after spending time there, Laura said she had a change of heart and found the idea of a new life in New York City exciting.
Her playful banter continued when her husband expressed a desire to be promoted to become a waiter; with her teasing, she encouraged him to keep dreaming hard, and one day, he could get the menu memorized.
When Laura appeared during one of his podcasts, the comedian recalled about his 21st birthday when she attended the celebration. Laura admitted finding Nate attractive, and their connection deepened one night after their shifts at Applebee's.
Laura fondly recalled a memorable evening with friends where Nate impressed her by playing and singing the lyrics of the "Little Mermaid" soundtrack. She said:
"I was like, 'if anyone can put (on) "The Little Mermaid" soundtrack and shush a bunch of twenty years olds to be quiet while he sings it'– I thought that was totally confident, and, like, you're your own person."
Laura Was Completely Shocked by Nate's Proposal
After dating for a long time, Nate moved from Chicago to New York City. Once there, he invited Laura to move with him to see if she liked the big city. When she was younger, Laura had reservations about moving to New York City due to its size and high cost of living. All grown up, she found it ironic that she later relocated to the Big Apple for love.
The couple discussed what would happen if Laura was not a fan of New York City, and during the podcast, she revealed that they might have parted ways. Fortunately, after spending time there, Laura said she had a change of heart and found the idea of a new life in New York City exciting.
While reminiscing about the day her husband proposed, Laura joked that she would never forgive him as the comedian said she did not need to shower and dress up– something Laura noted was fundamental for women to do on such a big occasion.
He responded that they had nothing special planned. So, Laura dressed very casually in jeans and a sweater, having barely done her hair, not knowing it was the morning Nate was going to propose. She said:
"He said, 'Oh, just wear whatever.' So I looked horrible."
With Laura's father's approval, Nate popped the question during a carriage ride and planned a beautiful lunch at the Central Park Boat House, which left Laura "completely shocked." The comedian jokingly revealed that his parents paid for the grand proposal as he was strapped for cash at the time.
Laura's husband shared a humorous skit about their wedding day, which took place on Friday, October 13, 2006. He joked about the venue being fully available because many couples avoided marrying on that supposedly spooky date.
Despite the unconventional choice, the couple has savored over a decade of marriage. Celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary in 2022, Laura's husband took to social media to mark this significant milestone.
He shared a picture of the couple with their daughter at a sports game, and in the caption, he wrote, "When we met before I started comedy, neither of us could ever imagine where this (has led) us. But you have been along for the ride the whole time!"
In a touching gesture during their October 2023 anniversary, the comedian paid a heartfelt tribute to Laura. Accompanied by a charming photo of the trio donned in stylish casual wear, he expressed, "Friday the 13th turned out to be more than okay." Gratitude flowed as he thanked Laura for doing life with him, acknowledging, "I couldn't have done any of this without you."
The happily married couple occasionally make public appearances together, making stylish appearances on red-carpet events. Their picture-perfect partnership is evident as they stand side by side, elegantly dressed, radiating a shared sense of style and togetherness that adds a touch of glamour to every event they attend.
On Mother's Day in May 2023, Nate showered Laura with a touching tribute, calling her as the "best mom" adept at "keeping a circus running." Expressing profound gratitude for her presence in his life, he confessed, "I wouldn't want to do any of this with anyone else."
